Yesterday, we proudly unveiled the #DEMOS (Democratic?Engagement and?Meaningful?Online?Spaces)?3.0 platform in #Atherton, California, and it was an absolute triumph! A heartfelt thank you to all who attended, contributed and engaged with us. Over 120 passionate individuals joined us to support the Democracy 3.0 management team and board members, who traveled from DC, LA, and beyond, for this landmark event. The excitement was palpable as our Founder, Susan Akbarpour, delivered a heartfelt welcome speech, sharing her compelling story as a victim of astroturfing and how she decided to leverage her expertise and resources to protect activists worldwide from such harm. This was followed by insightful remarks from Mehdi Maghsoodnia , the executive and founding board member of D3, who delved into how DEMOS (D3) leverages open-source standards to prioritize privacy, transparency, and community governance. Our CTO, Tooraj Helmi, captivated the audience with a thrilling demo of the platform's capabilities. We were also thrilled to introduce our new Executive Director, Sara Seyed—an accomplished actor, writer, producer, and international lawyer. Sara elaborated passionately on the core values of #DEMOS 3.0: transparency, privacy, and integrity. We were honored to have two of our founding board members like Nadereh Chamlou, the former World Bank Advisor and Shirin Behzadi, successful entrepreneur along with other dedicated trustees and team members such as Barbara Leavitt, Leela Najafi , and Farokh Mehrshahi, sharing their visions and experiences. As we journey forward, we're excited to announce that yesterday's event marked a significant start to our fundraising efforts.
