DCC was honored to be invited to participate in the Henderson Dementia Caregiver Conference at Vance-Granville Community College last week made possible by the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina and the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments. Thank you to everyone who braved the pending storm to join us in learning more about dementia with Melanie Bunn, RN, MS, and dementia training expert. Thank you to all the community resources that shared valuable information about supportive services as well. Michael Patterson, Family Caregiver Specialist with the Kerr-Tar Area Agency on Aging (and a valued DCC Advisory Council Member) did a fantastic job presenting on the topic of 'Self Care' and why it is so important (especially as a Caregiver).
