The Del Valle ISD Board of Trustees approved two hires in athletics to build the district’s winning culture and vision for athletic excellence. Clarence Davis will join the district as Athletic Director, while Colin Williams was named Head Football Coach and Boys Athletic Coordinator. Mr. Davis brings more than 15 years of experience in athletics administration, most recently as Lead Director of Athletics for YES Prep District in Houston. In his 9 years at the district, teams earned 18 District Championships and two state titles. He has also previously served in operations for athletics at the University of Houston, McNeese State, and Northwestern State University. Mr. Davis will be instrumental in elevating the district’s athletics programs, creating opportunities for student-athletes to excel, and developing a districtwide athletic program as the second Del Valle High School moves forward with a planned opening in 2027. New head football coach Colin Williams comes to Del Valle with a history of success in developing competitive teams as Offensive Coordinator for Austin LBJ Early College High School. Teams he helped coach earned three playoff appearances with Top 15 state rankings in the last three years, including ending the 2024 regular season ranked 2nd in Class 4A Division I. His leadership on offense was responsible for designing and implementing a high-scoring offensive system that led to student-athlete development on and off the field. “We are thrilled to welcome Clarence Davis and Collins Williams to the Del Valle ISD athletics team,” said Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez. “The leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence they bring will undoubtedly elevate our athletic programs and provide our student-athletes with outstanding opportunities for growth and success. We look forward to the positive impact they will bring to the District.” These two athletic hires will bring renewed energy to the Del Valle ISD Athletic Department and football program, fostering a culture of excellence and student success.

We are proud to recognize those who are making a lasting impact and demonstrating a deep commitment to improving their communities. Join us in celebrating our Community Strategy Team’s achievements in enhancing the quality of care, expanding access to services and empowering communities. As a Parent Community Liaison at Newton Collins Elementary School in Del Valle Independent School District, Araceli McBeth is dedicated to supporting families and students in her community. She is now starting her second year as a Community Strategy Team member. Originally from Chicago, Araceli has over 20 years of experience working with and serving communities. Araceli is committed to fostering strong relationships within the school community and to bridging the gap between institutions and communities to build trust and foster healthy places to live. ? Why did you Join WCWH? I joined WCWH after learning about the cohort study. I wanted to know more about the cohort study, and what better way to know more than to join WCWH! ? What does community mean to you? Community means joining forces with those around me for the greater good of our area. We bring our experience, skillset, talent, resources and willpower together to impact and bring change to the community. ? What is something you’re proud of about your work in the community? I am proud of the relationships that have been built and the connections made while working in the community. ? What is something you’ve learned or appreciated about being part of the CST? I have learned that I am not as much of an introvert as I thought! Being a part of the CST has helped me not shy away from sharing my thoughts and opinions, even if they are different from the thoughts and opinions of others on the team. I appreciate that we have a great respect for each other and value each other's thoughts. Whole Communities–Whole Health is now beginning year three of its five-year community-centered cohort study to understand how physical and emotional experiences, biology and the environment impact the overall health of children and families. This year, Araceli will join the Recruitment & Retention workgroup to help guide strategies for recruiting and retaining families in the WCWH study. Araceli is a joy to work with; we are so glad she's on the team! Learn more about her work at https://bit.ly/3YPzwon
