As part of Delta Vacations’ celebrations during Black History Month, employees had the opportunity to visit the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) Legacy Museum at the end of February. Director of Marketing & Direct Channel Strategy Cathy Douville was one of those who attended, walking away with immensely more than she could have ever expected. “Before the trip, I was told it was going to be informative, raw, emotional, and life-changing – it was all of that and more. Each of the 3 sites we visited was so immersive and deeply moving that I found myself feeling a range of emotions throughout my time there – anger, sadness, horror, heartbreak, overwhelm, inspiration and optimism. I can honestly say that I left there a different person than when I started.” The EJI Legacy Museum travels through 400 years of American history featuring some of the most impactful eras of the country’s past and displaying moving galleries and exhibits highlighting a deeper reflection of racial injustice in America. Cathy voices “we have come a long way from the days of slavery, but we must recognize and address the other forms of oppression around us and unite to fight for freedom and equality for all. I will continue to serve as an ally and stand up for those that are marginalized.” As an organization, Delta Vacations aims to commemorate the heritage, contributions and achievements of Black Americans, focusing on significant contributions made through their work across various industries and throughout history. Learning more about achievements and celebrating cultures helps our people to continue fostering inclusivity and equity in our workplace and beyond.
