As we celebrate the tenure of our aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs), we'd also like to welcome our next generation of AMTs who are working on our next generation engines! Carson McConnell started in automotive and quickly became fascinated with the idea of pursuing aviation maintenance. He started his career at General Aerospace building LEAP engines and assisted our team in setting up our new LEAP shop. When he thought about the next logical step to advance himself and his career, Delta TechOps was his choice due to our extensive operation. When asked what he loves most about his job, Carson replied "I enjoy the challenge and the pride knowing something you worked on is out flying somewhere in the world." #aviation #aircraftmaintenance

Congratulations to our Aviation Maintenance Technician at JFK, Victor Diaz, who recently celebrated his 55-year anniversary with us. Victor began his journey at longtime Delta partner, Aviation High School, before starting his career with Lockheed Martin. Victor then served in the Vietnam War as a mechanic in the United States Air Force. After his service, he started in 1969 in maintenance at National Airlines, which merged with Pan Am, before merging with Delta. ? When asked for his advice for the next generation, Victor shared:?“Lean on your experienced peers to teach you the ropes of maintenance and always consider our job as a group effort because we accomplish more as a team than we do as individuals.” ? Victor was previously honored with the FAA’s Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award for 50 years of exemplary service and accomplishments in aviation maintenance. JFK held a celebration for Victor where he received the rare 55-year Delta service pin from TechOps leaders. Thank you for your service Victor! #aircraftmaintenance #aviation?

TechOps has been hard at work finding ways Delta can use technology to innovate in the aviation maintenance space. I’m excited to share that the FAA has accepted Delta’s plans to use drones (sUAS technology) for conditional general visual inspections of our aircraft. Delta is the first U.S. commercial operator to do so, and as a result we’ve been able to integrate drone inspections into the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) for our entire mainline fleet, starting with visual inspections following lightning strikes. Along with reducing the risk of injuries, the technology will also help technicians and inspectors make decisions on aircraft conditions up to 82% faster.?Implementing drone technology enables aircraft to be returned to service more quickly and supports efforts to reduce delays and cancellations. ?? #technology #aircraftmaintenance?
