In the face of #climatechange, the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta faces deep uncertainty. The Delta Independent Science Board defines deep uncertainty as "unpredictable events or system variability that cannot be well characterized with existing data, models, and understanding." To help navigate these times, the Delta ISB began a review of decision-making under deep uncertainty, exploring techniques that could be applied to the Delta. The first of two reports on the subject, focusing on introducing key concepts and summarizing the seminar series held during this review, is now available here ? https://rebrand.ly/8d0312. The second report, which will include findings and recommendations from the review, will be released next year.

The Delta Stewardship Council has released its climate adaptation plan for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The plan was produced as part of the Council's Delta Adapts initiative, which began in 2018. The Council's Vulnerability Assessment was completed in 2021 and the Adaptation Plan is the next step in advancing the resilience of the Delta to future climate impacts. The Plan presents a range of strategies across four topic areas: flooding, ecosystems, water supply, and agriculture. The public review draft is available for public comment through January 17, 2025.
