It's official! This week, we met our goal for our annual giving campaign, with over 90% of our team donating at least $26 dollars to our community partners. We’re thrilled to announce that together, individual Delta Dental and Arcora Foundation team members raised $39,661 for United Way of King County, Second Harvest, Rural Resources Community Action, and Food Lifeline! We're proud to announce that we will also be matching those donations to increase the impact and deepen our commitment to our community partners. The M Factor: Shredding the Silence on Menopause is a documentary that tackles the often-overlooked impact of menopause on women’s health, including dental health and experts from Delta Dental Plans Association led their expertise to the filmmakers. Sarah Chavarria, President and CEO Delta Dental Plan California and Teri Barichello, Vice President and Chief Dental Officer for Delta Dental of Oregon and Alaska provided expert insight into how menopause affects dental health. Their contributions to the project were key to highlighting the broader, lesser-known ways menopause can influence overall well-being. From increased risks of gum disease to dry mouth and tooth loss, menopause can take a toll on oral health, and our experts are committed to ensuring these issues remain part of the conversation. We're proud to announce the opening of the Delta Dental Equity Hall at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. Starting fall, 2025, this brand-new building will be home to the PNWU School of Dental Medicine - the second dental school in the state - and will host an inaugural class of 36 students! We attended a ribbon cutting last weekend that represents the culmination of our partnership with PNWU to break ground on this new facility and take innovative action towards our vision of better overall and oral health for all. Delta Dental Equity Hall is intended to house a school of dental medicine that revolutionizes the model of preparing dental students for a career in oral health. The curriculum addresses inequities that exist in rural areas and underserved communities by training a new generation of dental professionals in communities with the greatest need. Our mission at Delta Dental of Washington is to disrupt, transform and revolutionize the oral health industry in order to remove barriers to health care and improve overall health. By backing initiatives like this one at PNWU, we take active steps toward realizing this mission, and can proudly watch our vision come true, one graduating class at a time. Employers work hard to make sure their teams have the benefits they need to stay healthy, motivated, and productive. So, what would be the point if the benefits are too hard to actually use? I find that so many benefits companies have difficult and opaque processes that make it a chore to schedule appointments, find providers, and track claims. For that reason, if you want to really know how beneficial a benefits company really is, check their tools. Here are a few questions to ask when you're thinking about adding a benefit for your employees: 1. What online tools do they? Look to see if your benefit's website has tools to find care, track claims, or speak to a representative. 2. Where do you find the tool on their website? Make sure your employees won't have to dig just to track a claim or find a provider. 3. Who functions do their tools serve? A benefits company should have tools the serve their core purpose and mission - to help employees find care and stay healthy. Once you have the answers to these three questions, you'll have a better understanding of just how easy it will be for your team members to actually use the benefits your company provides.
