关于我们
At the Delta Dental Foundation (DDF), we know that oral and overall health are intrinsically linked. But for many people, the tools and education that can help keep their mouths healthy are often out of reach. Today, three out of four Americans report experiencing barriers to accessing dental care. That’s why the DDF is dedicated to developing and enhancing partnerships and programs to improve health equity in oral and overall health. Our areas of focus include increasing dental access to underserved and high-risk populations; identifying and reducing health disparities related to oral and overall health; providing educational programming on the importance of oral health and how it relates to overall health; providing scholarships and awards to dental students; and offering continuing education programs for the dental profession. But we don’t just fund great projects—we also take action on our own to ensure the work that’s necessary gets done. After all, everyone deserves a healthy smile. The DDF is a nonprofit, charitable organization established in 1980, which serves as the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and North Carolina.

It can be hard to find a dental home, especially if you're uninsured or underinsured. That's why every year, our community partner Medworks USA hosts a massive two-day FREE dental care event that serves more than 1,000 people in Cleveland. New this year, in addition to dental care, insurance counseling, vaccinations, and food distribution, attendees had access to women's health services, mammography, podiatry, diabetes screenings, skin checks, hearing and vision screenings, and same-day dentures! To learn more or volunteer for a future event, visit: https://hubs.la/Q02YBGkj0. #OralHealth #Dentistry #DentalCare

We talk a lot about TeamSmile events, but do you know how they work? Every year, thousands of kids nationwide get FREE dental care and empowering health education through clinics that are set up and broken down in just two days. When the event is done and the volunteers and mascots and players have gone home, TeamSmile is still working to find each and every one of those children a dental home, if they need it. DJ Reader, a Detroit Lions defensive tackle, supported a care event in Detroit. "Seeing the kids in Detroit excited about their checkups and knowing they have people who care about them was incredibly meaningful. It’s about empowering them to take charge of their health and letting them know they have support, even in areas that might seem out of reach," he says. Veterans often have more complex care needs, especially when it comes to oral health. Despite those needs, fewer than 15% are eligible for dental benefits through the VA. The Delta Dental Foundation supports a variety of programs designed to address veteran's dental needs—like last year's Veterans Day of Caring at My Community Dental Centers (MCDC). Veterans can receive dental care at MCDC locations at reduced rates for self-paid services or to support Community Care Network services covered by the VA. The Motor City is trying out a new mode of transportation, thanks in part to a grant from the Delta Dental Foundation. Self-driving shuttles are now taking older adults to critical locations around Detroit, including the dentist's office. Although some of the riders were initially skeptical, many have now fully embraced the new technology. "This service is giving people ability, independence and freedom," said Konner Petz at the Office of Mobility Innovation at The City of Detroit. We're committed to supporting programs that train our future oral health professionals in equity-based approaches to care. One way we do that is by helping educational institutions, like Cuyahoga Community College, grow their hygiene cohort. "Hygienists are the backbone of the oral health workforce, yet we're experiencing a nationwide shortage," said Holli Seabury, EdD, executive director of the Delta Dental Foundation. "Expanding the seats available at hygiene programs, like Tri-C's, is just one way we can start closing the care gap." Right now, there's a one-year wait list for students who want to enter the program. Learn more at the link below.
