Marine XII is a flagship FLNG delivery project offshore Congo, West Africa, operated by Italian energy giant Eni. The early production phase involves two vessels moored in combination in very shallow water (only 20m), the FLNG “Tango” and FSU “Excalibur”, using a chain catenary spread mooring. The two vessels are close-coupled using a novel arrangement of Nylon hawsers. The seabed conditions at site consist of a thin layer of very soft silt over rock, not normally considered suitable for drag embedment anchors. STEVSHARK REX anchors and STEVADJUSTER in-line tensioners from Delmar Systems were used to help successfully moor FLNG and FSU vessels in very hard seabed conditions, in shallow water. Delmar Systems was contracted by Saipem to supply the STEVMANTA vertical load anchors and STEVADJUSTER in-line tensioners for the turret-moored FPSO Firenze at the Baleine field offshore C?te d’Ivoire, West Africa, in 1,015m water depth. The anchors and ground chains including the STEVADJUSTER's were pre-installed from the anchor handling vessel Olympic Zeus. All the STEVMANTA's were successfully embedded with 165mT bollard pull to break the shear pin and trigger the anchor into its normal loading configuration. Drag lengths averaged 21m, right in the middle of the predicted range, and estimated burial depth was 16m below mudline. The FPSO was successfully hooked up to the pre-laid mooring legs. The STEVADJUSTER's were used in turn to pretension each leg to the target load, this operation typically taking 4 hours on average per leg, using only a single vessel. We celebrate together with GASTRADE S.A. the successful commissioning of FSRU Alexandroupolis LNG Terminal. Delmar Systems and its partner CAN SYSTEMS undertook the complex tasks of designing and supplying the mooring system for Gastrade’s “Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) - the heart of the Independent Natural Gas System (INGS)”. Positioned in the Aegean Sea, this project not only transforms energy security in Greece but also contributes significantly to Balkan energy diversification, supporting the creation of a regional Natural Gas Hub. Delmar Systems’ responsibilities also included prelay supervision and managing hook-up operations. Located approximately 10 km south of the coastline of Alexandroupolis, the FSRU is strategically placed in the sea of Thrace, about 17.6 km southwest of the town of Alexandroupolis in 40m water depth. The FSRU is equipped with a 153,000m3 membrane LNGC and a 24+4km 30” pipeline links it to the shore. Delmar Systems and CAN Systems were chosen as the Mooring suppliers providing the innovative and patented Restricted Catenary Mooring system, uniquely enabling unrestricted access for ship-to-ship loading, a variation from conventional spread mooring systems.
