Cyberattacks on critical infrastructure are escalating, and 2025 will bring even more sophisticated, politically motivated, and AI-driven threats. What’s coming? ?? AI-Powered Attacks – Attackers will use AI to automate and refine intrusions, making detection harder. ?? State-Sponsored Cyberwarfare – As geopolitical tensions rise, expect more cyberattacks tied to tariff wars and global conflicts. ?? IoT as a Backdoor – Insecure IoT devices in critical infrastructure will create new vulnerabilities. ?? Cloud-Based Threats – More essential systems are moving to the cloud, expanding attack surfaces and risks. ?? Weaponized Employee Data – Freely available personal data will fuel social engineering attacks, helping attackers steal credentials and gain access to sensitive systems. The takeaway? Now is the time for stronger defenses. Organizations must invest in segmentation, proactive threat monitoring, and AI-driven security to stay ahead. The risks aren’t just digital - they’re national security threats. #Cybersecurity #CriticalInfrastructure #CyberThreats #AIThreats #RiskManagement

DeleteMe’s Rob Shavell was recently featured in The Washington Times, discussing the growing risk of malicious QR code scams. From brushing scams that send employees unsolicited packages with malicious QR codes to email or text-based quishing (QR code phishing) attacks that trick staff into scanning codes that steal credentials or install malware, cybercriminals are finding new ways to exploit personal and corporate data that is freely available on many data broker sites. ?? What can businesses do? ? Train employees to never scan unknown QR codes—whether on a package, in an email, or on a printed notice. ? Implement strict cybersecurity policies to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive systems. ? Remove employee data from data broker sites to reduce targeted phishing and quishing attempts. ?? A new wave of online threats and in-person violence is putting executives and companies at risk. Even industries that once seemed low-risk - like health insurance or retail - have become targets. From doxxing to coordinated harassment, digital attacks are escalating into real-world dangers. Cybersecurity leaders have a new responsibility: Protecting their organizations by ensuring employees and executives are informed, trained, and secure — both online and offline. Monitoring threats, securing personal data, and preparing for worst-case scenarios isn’t optional. It’s a necessity. Staying ahead of these risks depends on an industry-wide movement to make employees and executives safer. #Cybersecurity #ExecutiveSecurity #DigitalThreats #RiskManagement #DataProtection

A recent POLITICO article showed that many Federal workers are increasingly worried for their safety and find it hard to protect themselves online. However, federal workers aren’t the only ones facing rising doxing and harassment. Any business in at-risk industries, critical infrastructure, or with executives taking public stances are also under threat. DeleteMe has seen a 250% surge in federal and state workers seeking data removal. Why? Their personal info is too easy to find, making them targets. The same risk applies to executives, journalists, healthcare workers, and more. Protecting employees isn’t optional. Companies should have a clear plan for handling doxing and online threats, as well as reducing employees' digital footprint to lessen the chance that they may become targets. #Cybersecurity #EmployeeSafety #Doxing #PrivacyProtection #OnlineThreats

?? Critical infrastructure is under attack - and humans are still the weak link. The recent Treasury Department hack was another wake-up call that state actors will be ramping up attacks on government infrastructure in the coming months. A vulnerable third-party service opened the door to state-sponsored attackers, exposing sensitive government data. However, the risk to critical infrastructure doesn't just come from software flaws. It comes from people. ?? Often, cybercriminals don’t even have to break in - they just log in. ?? Phishing, weak credentials, and social engineering remain the easiest entry points. Even the best security tools can’t stop an employee from clicking the wrong link. Protecting your business starts with protecting your people. ?? ?? Train employees to spot threats. ?? Limit access to sensitive systems. ?? Continuously monitor for unusual activity. ?? Reduce your employees' digital footprint to prevent them from becoming targets. The attack surface isn’t just digital - it’s human. If you’re not prioritizing employee cybersecurity awareness, you’re leaving the door wide open. #Cybersecurity #DataProtection #Infosec #CriticalInfrastructure #CyberThreats

The rise of exposed personal information (PII) is alarming enough, but when paired with GenAI, the risks to your company become far more dangerous. ? Tools like Chat-GPT and Gemini are being weaponized to analyze and exploit PII at scale, crafting highly convincing phishing emails, impersonating employees, and bypassing security protocols. ? Take the MGM hack in 2023 as an example. A group of teenagers used simple tactics - armed with exposed PII and AI-generated scripts - to breach a massive corporation. This wasn’t a sophisticated cyber operation; it was basic social engineering, turbocharged by AI. ? This is why protecting employee data isn’t optional. Exposed information, such as phone numbers and addresses, creates an open door for attackers to manipulate and deceive. ? Reducing risk starts with minimizing exposure: ? ? Remove sensitive PII from data broker sites to reduce the attack surface. ? Train employees to recognize AI-crafted scams. ? Implement robust verification processes to combat social engineering. ? GenAI is evolving fast - let’s ensure our defenses evolve even faster. ? #DataPrivacy #CyberSecurity #EmployeeProtection #PII #PersonalInformation

When I started out as a marketer in the cybersecurity space 7 years ago, I didn’t fully grasp how personal security really is. Sure, I knew the basics: Protect the network, secure the endpoints, stop the bad guys. But the more I spoke to security leaders, the clearer it became: It’s all about people. Security isn’t just technical; it’s deeply human. The more I interviewed CISOs, security architects, and practitioners, the more I heard the same recurring theme: Attackers are focusing less on breaking into systems and more on exploiting people. It’s no longer just about firewalls and zero-days. It’s about YOU. This shift toward human-centric security is something Rob Shavell, co-founder of DeleteMe, and I recently discussed on Audience 1st Podcast. Rob’s take on privacy and human security was both fascinating and, frankly, a little unnerving. But it also illuminated some important truths about where we’re headed and what we need to do to prepare. Next week, we're going to be breaking down why human-centric security is the next frontier in data privacy (and why it matters now more than ever), linked in the comments below ??
