Members of the C-suite often face heavy criticism that can devolve into harassment or threats. These can arise from negative earnings reports or mass layoffs, a vocal presence on social media, or controversial product announcements. ? Cybercriminals, activists, and even disgruntled employees are on a mission to exploit executives’ personal information (PII) for their own gain or to directly harm businesses. ? Leaving executive PII exposed online can lead to: ? 1. Targeted phishing attacks when email addresses and phone numbers get exposed 2. Physical security risks when home addresses are publicly available 3. Impersonation scams based on the proliferation of other types of personal info on the web ? By removing executive PII, companies can shield their leadership from these increasing threats and protect their brand’s reputation. ?? ? With many U.S. states passing stricter privacy laws, stronger enforcement of those laws will likely follow. And better enforcement can't come soon enough, considering the number of breaches in just the past year. However, this stronger enforcement will put a lot of companies in the line of fire for how they handle both customer and employee data. Employee data exposed online is one of the top ways malicious actors target your business, leveraging that data in phishing and social engineering attacks. ? As long as human error is still the top cause of data breaches, it's only a matter of time before one of your employees falls victim. Prevent phishing attacks from ever deceiving your employees by monitoring where their data appears online and removing it whenever possible. ? Additionally, train your employees to be on the lookout for suspicious emails and texts and to avoid clicking any unverified links. ? #DeleteMe #DataPrivacy #Cybersecurity #CybersecurityCompliance

Despite new and increasingly strict data privacy laws, big tech companies continue to violate consumers’ privacy and experience major breaches. ? Even the hefty fines don’t seem to change their behavior. The reality is, large fines may just be a cost of doing business for them. But for smaller companies, these fines could be devastating, especially when they're already struggling to meet compliance requirements with limited security resources. ? Smaller companies don’t have the luxury of brushing off compliance issues with a check. They also face the growing threat of breaches caused by phishing and social engineering attacks. ? What can smaller companies do? You can start by taking proactive measures: ? 1?? Data removal: Reduce your company’s exposure by removing workers' contact information from the web, making it harder for bad actors to target your employees. ? 2?? Employee education: Teach your team to recognize and avoid phishing attacks, preventing breaches before they happen. ? 3?? Ongoing protection: Stay vigilant with data monitoring and vulnerability detection to catch threats before they become a crisis. ? Protect your company from costly fines and breaches. ? #DeleteMe #DataProtection #PhishingPrevention #SmallBusinessSecurity #CyberSecurity
