This week’s Stellar Staff Spotlight is Toni Dyer! Toni recently celebrated her three-year anniversary at Delaware Hospice working as a nurse. A while back, Toni’s father became ill and was diagnosed with terminal cancer. They decided to turn to Delaware Hospice for help. One frightful night, Toni’s father took a bad fall. Toni became frantic, not knowing what to do. At three o’clock in the morning, a Delaware Hospice nurse directed her on how to fix the situation and even drove out to Toni’s house to comfort her and give her additional support while making sure her dad was okay. Later, when Toni’s father eventually passed, their nurse was there to comfort her once again. Toni decided she wanted to help others the same way that their nurse had guided her. She enrolled in nursing school and received her degree. The guidance she received from her dad’s nurse all those years ago has stayed with Toni to this day. She uses the same techniques and kindness shown to her with her own patients. “I love taking care of my patients and their family and making a difference in their lives. If one little thing like a smile, warm greeting, or a gentle touch makes their day a little better and if my explaining the decline of progression to the families makes it less scary, then I have done my job. I love and appreciate all my co-worker family and the cohesiveness with how we work together to make a difference for our patients and families.” Toni loves watching a good Hallmark movie, reading, and drawing but cooking is her passion. She enjoys learning and perfecting new recipes while spending time with family and friends.

Our first Volunteer Spotlight of 2025 is Lynn Miller. Lynn has volunteered with Delaware Hospice since 2018 as a Volunteer Chaplain. She loves meeting new people, establishing relationships, and sharing her faith. "I was drawn to Delaware Hospice through God's grace. My journey through grief taught me that the best way to stop hurting is to be with people who are hurting. I called Delaware Hospice for the very first time in 2013. My husband was dying and I needed to bring him home. I called at 9 am and a nurse and pastor showed up just a few hours later. The compassion shown by the organization is something I will never forget." Lynn loves to spend time with family and friends. Her hobbies include traveling, gardening, and especially writing. In fact, Lynn is a published author! Her book, From Grief to Gratitude: One Soul's Journey, offers deep insights into how to navigate pain and loss along one's grief journey. Lynn shares moving stories while allowing the reader time for reflection. Lynn has graciously decided to donate all proceeds from her book sales to Delaware Hospice. We invite you to check out more about her book by visiting: https://lnkd.in/e2g-CJuY
