The Delaware Center for Justice, Inc. is a non-profit United Way agency, dedicated to creating a safer, more secure Delaware by seeking to achieve and preserve a high quality of justice. We fulfill our mission through an extensive range of programs and services, public education, research, and advocacy. Over the years, the Delaware Center for Justice has been a vital part of: ? Helping establish the first probation and parole office ? Creating a separate facility for women offenders ? Establishing the first halfway house ? Supporting the Family Court Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families ? Drafting the Delaware Victims’ Bill of Rights ? Restoring voting rights for ex-offenders ? Strengthening the effort to promote successful adult offender reentry ? Developing and delivering gender-responsive services for girls at-risk or involved in the juvenile justice system in Delaware. To meet our commitment to creating a safer Delaware, DCJ focuses on issues and actions related to several areas of concern in our criminal justice system. These include: ? Conditions of confinement ? Alternatives to incarceration ? Reentry initiatives for incarcerated populations ? More cost-effective and efficient use of limited corrections resources ? Legislative reform as it pertains to creating a higher quality of justice ? Meeting the needs of victims of crime ? Crime prevention programs

Your gift supports youth-focused initiatives that provide alternatives to incarceration and vital services for adults, helping to break the cycle and guide individuals of all ages toward successful, crime-free futures. Here is a list of how DCJ makes an impact: 1. Helping Adults Avoid Recidivism DCJ’s comprehensive services help adults avoid returning to prison, especially those without safe housing or job opportunities. We support individuals in regaining their independence and preventing re-incarceration. 2. Employment and Economic Independence In 2024, over 300 gained access to meaningful, gainful employment through DCJ’s resources and programs. 3. Clearing Criminal Records for a Second Chance 84 Delawareans in 2024 had the opportunity to clear their criminal records through DCJ’s support, opening up access to housing and employment opportunities. 4. Support for Crime Victims Aged 50 and Over DCJ provides critical support for over 100 older crime survivors annually in New Castle County. We offer them comprehensive case management and licensed therapy to help them heal and regain control of their lives. 5. Preventing the School-to-Prison Pipeline Each year, DCJ serves over 2,000 Delawareans, including children at risk of falling into the school-to-prison pipeline. Our mediation services help keep children on a positive path, preventing unnecessary involvement in the criminal justice system. 6. Housing Support: A Pathway to Stability In 2024, we helped over 400 individuals in Delaware find housing support, providing a foundation for them to build stable, independent lives. https://lnkd.in/eGGUrFqY
