Blue flag iris, inkberry holly, dogwood, and other native plants turn part of a parking lot into rain gardens at the Pickering Valley Feed & Farm in Lionville, Pa. That means later on, these water-loving plants will catch some of the excess water that otherwise would make for a very wet parking lot. Thanks to the National Wildlife Federation and the William Penn Foundation for their support in making this happen. Thanks also to Uwchlan Township for in-kind support and to Aqua and Constellation for support via the Schuylkill Restoration Fund. Many thanks to PJ Reilly Contracting Co., Inc. and #EarthCareLandscapingInc. for the work installing the plants. Schuylkill Action Network

关于我们
Connecting people, science, and nature for a healthy Delaware River and Bay. The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary is a nonprofit organization that brings together people, businesses and governments to restore and protect the Delaware River and Bay. From its headquarters in Wilmington, PDE focuses programs and scientific research on the entire environment affecting the Estuary — from Trenton to Cape May, New Jersey and Lewes, Delaware. We encourage collaboration among the Estuary’s many stakeholders and seek practical solutions to help restore the natural vitality of the Delaware River and Bay on which plants, wildlife, people and businesses rely. The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary is committed to providing equal access to information about its programs, including document translation services for all individuals. Homegrown Habitats: Chester, PA Edition! Today at the Ruth Bennett Community Farm, we made residents very happy with free native plants, growing information, planters, and soil through this program that teaches about the benefits of growing native plants in our communities, including cleaner water. ?? We owe a HUGE thanks to board member @Michelle Jackson of Delcora for her help today, to the City of Chester's Mayor Stefan Roots for attending our event, to Ruth Bennet Farm for hosting us, and to the J. Lewis Crozer Library for their help and for hosting two Homegrown Habitats presentations earlier this month. Woot, woot! ?? #strongcommunities??#cleanwaters #healthyhabits
