“I have been fortunate enough to spend almost my entire professional life working with amazing people whose hearts are in the right place and who want to do the right thing.?It feels good to imagine that I have made a difference in our employees’ lives in terms of providing a great place to work.?I cherish the fact that I got to work with my dad for 20 years.?He is my best friend and has been an amazing mentor. We should all be so lucky to have such a great dad and spend that sort of quality time with him.?? ? I have my own four children and an incredible wife, and I am grateful beyond any form of expression for them. They make my heart full and push me to be a better human every day.?Some of my favorite things include fly fishing, backpacking, and traveling with my family.?I enjoy exercising (mostly so that I can eat more) and like to ride road bikes when I get the chance. I also love to read and watch sports…mostly to root against certain teams. ? Lou Gehrig said it best:?I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of this earth.” ? - Steve Donahue, Principal ?

As we head into Oscars weekend, we wanted to shine a spotlight on spaces where future stars shine. These performing arts facilities were made for students to grow through dynamic performances and creative productions. From catwalks and orchestra pits to lighting systems and cutting-edge acoustics, Del Amo has built tools for tomorrow’s stars to prepare for the big stage. --- A round of applause for St. Margaret’s Episcopal School, Chadwick School, Marlborough School, Mirman School, Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, The Webb Schools, The Willows Community School, The Archer School for Girls

We were thrilled to recently break ground on a new Student Commons at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School alongside our partners Bastien and Associates, Inc. Opening in the fall of 2026, the new Commons will be a two-story building which St. Margaret’s says “will be the heart of our beautiful campus.” The space will include a full-service kitchen, student eatery, fitness center, athletic training area, and support facilities. ? Our team is incredibly grateful to build on our nearly 20-year relationship with St Margaret’s and to help bring the Commons to a community with endless potential. (We may have even inspired some small future builders!) ---- Team: SMES: John E., Alanna Cajthaml | Bastien: Michael Viscetto Sr. | J.S. It’s a great day to be a Tartan! Today, St. Margaret’s broke ground and blessed the site for the St. Margaret’s Commons, a 30,000-square foot building which will be the heart of our beautiful campus. We are so excited to see the progress, and look forward to opening this amazing hub for health, wellness and community in the fall of 2026!

2025 marks 20 years of Del Amo building charter schools! It all started with ánimo Inglewood Charter High School in 2000, a Green Dot Public Schools California institution with a mission to help students thrive with a well-rounded education and strong community. Since then, we have had the honor of building over 100 charter schools alongside our clients and partners, including classrooms (of course!), science labs, performing arts centers, gymnasiums, athletic fields, and more. The most amazing statistic by far is the number of students who have been impacted by these two decades of work. We are deeply honored to have a role in fostering the growth and education of these incredible young minds across the LA area. ----- Deep gratitude to our partners, clients, and team including: Jason Cave, Bennett Akker, Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, Arts in Action Community Charter Schools, Aspire Public Schools, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, City Language Immersion Charter (Clic), Ednovate Inc, Environmental Charter Schools, Fenton Charter Public Schools, ICEF Public Schools, KIPP SoCal Public Schools, Pacific Charter School Development (PCSD), PUC Schools - Partnerships to Uplift Communities Schools, Para Los Ni?os, Redhook Capital Partners, TEACH Public Schools, VAUGHN NEXT CENTURY LEARNING CENTER, Vista Charter Public Schools

We are thrilled to share that our ArtCenter College of Design Mullin Transportation Design Center project with Darin Johnstone Architects has won a Design Award for Education from the SCDF - Southern California Development Forum! This LEED-Gold Certified project transformed a single-story space, originally home to one of the first supersonic wind tunnels, into a two-and-a-half-story multifunctional educational facility. The design effort nearly doubled the effective square footage of the barrel-vaulted, 43-foot clear high space to hold 31,000 square feet of specialized creative labs, makerspaces, classrooms, studios, and offices. The finished space features elements that appear to float within the wind tunnel, such as a flex space and viewing deck on the mezzanine level hovering above a fabrication studio and vehicle architecture lab. The reconceived space leverages the building’s impressive volume to offer limitless opportunities for students from all disciplines to invent and innovate at scale. A big thank you to our wonderful client Rollin Homer, all-star architect Darin Johnstone, and all the trade partners who made this possible. We are so grateful to accept this award alongside you. ---------- TEAM | Del Amo: Steve Nakano, Darren Hudson, Thomas Kane, Yamini Madhavan; DJA: Darin Johnstone, Sean Davis, Howard Chen; ArtCenter: Rollin Homer, Parthenon Corporation: Ernesto A.
