Did you know that there's a law on the books in the United States that could potentially devastate you and your business, but that is SO EASY to avoid running afoul of ... when you know about it? The deadline for compliance with this law is fast approaching. The Corporate Transparency Act includes a requirement for most small businesses to file a BENEFICIAL OWNERSHIP INFORMATION REPORT (BOIR). That report must be filed on or before 31 December 2024; filing on or after 1 January 2025 could result in a fine of $500.00 PER DAY (from 1 January 2025) until the report gets filed. My BOIR literally took me five minutes to file. The Patent Application From Hell is essentially done!! Just a few little proofreading tasks to complete, the inventor's signature to obtain, and then we'll actually file this behemoth of an application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty!! There are some 86 claims ... and that's with writing most claims in Markush format (which you KNOW the examiner will reject as indefinite and need me to point them to the case...).
