The Ceja Vista 55+ affordable senior living community was recently recognized with a Merit award from NAIOP New Mexico Chapter. Ceja Vista Senior Living adds 146 units of much-needed affordable living in downtown Albuquerque. This design focuses on outdoor spaces and amenities to improve tenant quality of life. The College of Osteopathic Medicine at UNC will train DOs to serve their own communities for generations to come. And it's so exciting to see continued progress on the build!

Did you know that osteopathic medical doctors (DOs) are more likely to stay located in their home state upon graduation compared to their allopathic counterparts (MDs)? This trend is often attributed to the strong emphasis on primary care and community-based training in osteopathic medical education. Many DOs choose to practice in underserved or rural areas, which are often in their home states, according to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Today in Greeley, Colorado a new $127M, 110K GSF home for the future osteopathic medical program is being built at the University of Northern Colorado. I have had the honor of working with our design team and the new Dean Beth Longenecker, President Andy Feinstein, and the talented FacMan team led by Nate Reinhard & Kevin Robinson since the programming stage of this project starting in July 2022. I couldn't be more proud of our SmithGroup Team, led by Darin Daguanno, and our design partners at Dekker. Our Design-Build partner, Adolfson & Peterson Construction have led the (fast-paced) charge the entire way to this point. As Phil Jackson once said, "The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team." In honor of the recently passed Kirk Leichliter, to whom we owe a deep debt of gratitude, we build this together. Every year, our Structural Engineering studio helps us push the boundaries of creativity and collaboration with a fun engineering challenge for Engineers Week. This year, our teams came together to tackle the ultimate challenge: building the most sturdy bridge. What made the competition even more exciting was participation from across the firm, including non-engineers or architect teams.
