This past weekend was one for the books at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC)! Not only did we cheer on the Bears at the Homecoming football game, but we celebrated the groundbreaking milestone of the new College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) with the university and our design-build partners at Adolfson & Peterson Construction and associate architects Dekker. This 111,000-gsf project in Greeley, Colorado is a game-changer for UNC, marking a new chapter in its commitment to advancing medical #education and community #health. Our team is proud to lead the design and construction of this state-of-the-art medical education graduate program, as it will train students to become Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, increase the supply of primary care physicians in the state, leverage synergies among the existing Health Sciences programs at UNC, and improve the overall health of the surrounding communities, especially in rural areas. We recently attended the groundbreaking for Farolito Senior Community. This 82 mixed income community brings much needed affordable senior housing to Albuquerque. Across the street from the Luminaria Senior Community, Farolito is located on State Land, meaning it will actively contribute to local economic development. YouthBuild, a program that offers education and on-the-job training will also be part of the project. Participants will learn building skills that will help jumpstart a career in construction! We're super excited to see this project start to come to life! Lengthy commute times and road access can be a struggle for teachers in rural school districts. Teacher housing can provide a comfortable home close to work, so teachers can spend more time with their families, and less time on the road. We've been working with the Gallup-McKinley County Schools District for over 20 years. Serving almost 5,000 square miles of territory, providing teacher housing is integral to improving teacher quality of life and attracting new talent. We designed the Ramah Teacher Housing community to be a lovely, tree-lined cul-de-sac that any teacher would be excited to call home. We worked with the existing topography to provide an energy-efficient water pump for fire suppression , and utilized our in-house talent in interior design, landscape architecture, and structural engineering to see this project to success. The key to building affordable housing is picking a location near services like schools, medical clinics, public transportation, grocery stores, and food options. Providing on site social service coordination to help residents access necessary assistance and also to fresh, organic produce through on-site vegetable gardens, is also desirable. There's a real need for senior housing, and together with Sol Housing, we are working hard to answer that need. The Farolito Senior Community just broke ground today (photos forthcoming). It will provide 82 units of affordable and market rate senior housing to Albuquerque. We are super excited to see this project start taking shape!

We're so proud to have designed this renovation that will help Eastern New Mexico University expand its scientific research programs. A huge thank you to HERA laboratory planners for bringing the expertise on laboratory planning!
