California-based biotech ?? firm Debut is developing more than a dozen bio-identical, bio-based ingredients to replace conventionally produced/sourced materials in L'Oréal products across skin, hair, color cosmetics ?? and fragrance. Previously, in June of 2023, Debut raised a $34 million Series B funding round led by BOLD, the venture capital fund of L'Oréal. Debut has also launched its own in-house proof-of-concept brand, DEINDE. ?? In the latest stage of the companies' partnership, Debut will produce swap-in ingredients produced via fermentation and cell-free technology. The project aligns with L'Oreal's ambition to adopt 95% biobased ?? ingredients by 2030.
