The main discussion will focus on Artificial Intelligence.?AI is already being used to enhance routine tasks such as communication, managing RFIs, tracking design and CA tasks.??It is also accelerating the software development of the tools designers use, increasing efficiency and precision across many engineering processes. However, the application of machine and deep learning in structural engineering remains largely untapped by most firms with widespread adoption still in its infancy. As a result, the full potential of AI to solve complex engineering challenges and fundamentally reshape the profession is yet to be realized. In this presentation, Dave will explore how these emerging technologies are poised to influence the future of structural engineering, offering both significant challenges and new opportunities. The discussion will also dive into business and client-driven strategies for evaluating AI solutions, developing AI-powered workflows in-house, and ensuring that human expertise remains central to the adoption and integration of these tools. Come join us as we help to equip engineers with a balanced perspective on leveraging AI while preserving the core values and skills that define our profession. The presentation includes a lively discussion of AI advancements, how AI tools can improve business practices, the practical and usable machine learning applications that firms of all sizes can adopt, the potential of cutting-edge AI to affect structural engineering, whether emerging AI startups are positioning themselves as suppliers or future competitors, and a discussion on the ethical integration of AI. ????????: November 12, 2024 || 5 to 8 pm PDT ??????????: Degenkolb Engineers SF | 375 Beale St, 1st Floor, San Francisco CA 94105 ???????????????????????? ?????????????????????? ???????????? ???????? #artificialintelligence #ai #machinelearning #technology#engineering

This summer, the San Francisco Bay Area offices turned up the fun with a series of socials! ?? From a Degenkolb-themed scavenger hunt where teams found buildings around the SF office that we've worked on through clues and riddles ????, to a lively happy hour celebrating the wins afterward, we made the most of our local landmarks! We also enjoyed some great food truck eats and fun times at Spark Social SF ???? and got our creative juices flowing at a Paint by Deg night where we each brought Deg, our company mascot, to life on canvas. ?? Degenkolb San Diego’s Jeremy Callister, S.E. and Lindsey Kuster, PE recently lent their structural expertise to an art installation at Burning Man titled “A Basic Bench.” Despite its name, the project was anything but basic! Photos taken on-site in Black Rock City, NV, showcase the spectacular result—a unique fusion of art and engineering that truly elevates the concept of a bench. #burningman #art #structuralengineering #steam

Degenkolb Engineers came out in force at the recent 2024 SEAOC Convention in Portland, OR! With this year’s theme, "Learning from the Past, Building the Present, Shaping the Future," our team contributed to vital discussions on resilience, safety, and innovation in structural engineering. Our experts presented on critical topics related to earthquake safety and building design, and we were proud to have Associate Principal, Melissa Vickery, S.E., serve as the Convention Chair. A special highlight was celebrating Chad Closs, San Diego Principal and Office Director, who was honored for his service as SEAOC Board Director. Thank you to all who attended, presented, and engaged in these important conversations. Together, we continue to build a safer, more resilient future! #SEAOC2024 #StructuralEngineering #Resilience #EarthquakeSafety #Innovation #CommunityResilience
