In a bid to take on Nvidia, Tenstorrent recently closed over $693m in a late-stage funding round. The fundraiser, led by Samsung Securities, attracted investors such as LG Electronics, Bezos Expeditions and Hyundai Motor Group. The AI chip-making startup, founded in 2016, builds scalable AI accelerators for both the cloud and edge. The startup also develops RISC-V processor architecture. According to Data Center Dynamics, the company is currently valued at $2.6bn. Tenstorrent intends to use the funding to build out open-source AI software stacks, hire developers, expand its global development and design centers, and build systems and clouds for AI developers.
