How does DIA Officer Gustav Otto describe his career? “From offices in the White House to the Pentagon, to foreign seats of power, to mud huts and dangerous ravines in war-ravaged lands, I’ve had amazing adventures and they continue to this day.” Gustav began his career with DIA as an Air Force captain assigned as a counterintelligence officer. When he made the move to civilian service, he continued to work in counterintelligence at the Agency. Now, 26 years after he first stepped through our doors, he serves as DIA’s liaison to Ottawa, working with American and Canadian defense intelligence experts on shared security and national defense interests. During National Native American Heritage Month, we celebrate the diverse cultures of Indigenous peoples across the United States and honor their military service. Did you know that members of about 50 Native American nations served as code talkers during both world wars? They used their languages to encode military messages and even created new terms to report on modern warfare — like “iron fish” for submarine or "hummingbird" for fighter plane. Learn more about their historic and present-day contributions: https://lnkd.in/eqy8C5pD
