Congratulations, Michael!
Last week I had the amazing opportunity to attend AMPP: Association for Materials Protection and Performance 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee. Throughout the conference I met many great people and had the opportunity to attend a selection of excellent talks. I also took the opportunity to present my own research, working with Richard Barker FiCorr, Joshua Owen , Richard Woollam, and Greg de Boer to investigate the use of simulated polarization curves within mechanistic CO2 corrosion models. Thank you to everyone that attended my talk for your attention, questions, and insights. I was honoured to be awarded 3rd place for the Mars Fortana Corrosion Award at the student poster show. As someone now at the end of their PhD journey, it was wonderful to see all the incredible work being done by students ranging from 1st year undergraduates up to final year postgraduates. I'd like to thank the Institute of Functional Surfaces (iFS) and Deepwater Corrosion Services, Inc. for jointly funding my trip to the AMPP2025 conference and for all their support. I'd also like to congratulate my colleagues from the University of Leeds, Richard Barker FiCorr, Joshua Owen, Richard Woollam, Amber Sykes, Ethan Proudlove, Ryan Abou-Shakra, and Rob Jacklin for their excellent presentations showcasing all the high quality research being done within the institute! #ampp2025 #conference #corrosion #similation

So fun to share the AMPP: Association for Materials Protection and Performance Project of the Year Award with a customer that values quality and safety so highly. Thank you R. Colin Reid, P.E. for the year(s) long hard work! To lightly quote Chappel Roan- “Your favorite Project Manager’s, favorite Project Manager”

We’re heading into the final day of the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo at Nashville’s Music City Center with a mixture of sadness and joy. Sadness because the show is almost over and joy because the show is almost over. Saving the best for last, on Wednesday evening Deepwater’s CP retrofit team receives the 2025 'AMPP Outstanding Engineering in the Area of Materials Protection or Remediation' award for their work on the Who Dat offshore semisubmersible platform. If you haven’t already stopped by to say hi, make sure you visit booth 1230 before they kick us all out.

What’s the next biggest honor in Nashville to being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame? It’s probably the 2025 'AMPP Outstanding Engineering in the Area of Materials Protection or Remediation' award, which Deepwater’s CP retrofit team will receive during the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo at Nashville’s Music City Center for their work on the Who Dat offshore semisubmersible platform (a component of which is shown in the photo). We’ll be exhibiting there April 7-9 in booth 1230, so stop by and meet our CP superstars. Autographs are always free!
