Once you carve your turkey and enjoy time well spent with the family, Giving Tuesday will be upon us! And there's no better way to give than to give the gift of the great outdoors. All donations to Deepwater Conservation Initiative go directly to supporting our conservation projects and education. This year we set a goal of $5000 for Giving Tuesday. To help us get to this goal, we will select a random donor to receive a FREE Discover Scientific Diving experience for the donor and three of their friends/family if we hit the $5000 mark! All donations between now and Giving Tuesday will go towards the goal, and the Experience will be hosted at The Scuba Dive Riverton. Our next team member we would like to highlight and give thanks for is our Utah Events Manager, Jordan Jarman! Jordan has also been involved with Deepwater from the beginning through coordinating school education events and assisting with cleanups. Working in the Utah school systems, Jordan is very passionate about educating our next generation on the hurdles that our natural world is facing. This made her a no-brainer fit for our Events Manager. Jordan extends her passion of protecting our natural spaces and education by participating with other environmental organizations including Hawkwatch International and Trout Unlimited. Jordan has a beautiful family that also assists in our mission and daughters that are aspiring dancers and climbers. We couldn't do the work we do without Jordan and that is why we are thankful to have Jordan as a member of our team! #givingthanks #awesomepeople #conservation #education

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we would like to spend the next three days celebrating the people who make our work possible! Today we'd like to start with our Operations Manager, Cami Tucker! Cami has been involved with Deepwater from the beginning by participating in our Quagga Citizen Science program. She quickly adopted the role as Lead Diver in many of our organized dives, and was promoted to the role of Operations Manager this year! Cami also has the distinction of being Deepwater's first certified AAUS Scientific Lead Diver, leading dives both here in Utah and on our research dives off Santa Catalina Island in California. If that isn't enough, Cami also has four daughters to keep her busy in her free time and loves to spend time with her family in Utah's great outdoor spaces. We couldn't do the work we do without Cami and that is why we are thankful to have Cami as a member of our team! #givingthanks #awesomepeople #conservation #education

Happy National Science Diving Day! Today marks the anniversary of the AAUS creating the scientific exemption allowing organizations like ours to perform underwater science under OSHA commercial standards. We are proud to acknowledge that as an AAUS Organizational Member, we are the only organization performing scientific diving operations in Utah waterways. Would you like to experience what it is like to be a scientific diver? Participate in our new Discover Scientific Diving program! We have experiences for both certified and non-certified divers. For non-certified divers, we are expanding Discover Scuba by including an additional pool dive where you will have fun performing fundamental science skills after getting comfortable with breathing underwater. For certified divers, we will offer an introduction into scientific diving which will consist of a classroom session, pool dives to practice scientific diving fundamentals, and a half day taking your new scientific skills into open water!
