Wayfarer Foundation’s Community Liason Manager, Audrey Moy, attended Deeply Rooted Dance Theater’s (DRTC) technical rehearsal on November 14 and its performance on November 16 at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago. This WF partner is a transformative force in the world of contemporary dance, captivating audiences with its powerful performances that seamlessly blend artistry and culture within the context of strong social commentary. With a commitment to celebrating diversity and African/African American heritage, this remarkable dance company has become a beacon of creativity and inspiration. During the rehearsal, Audrey noted how experiencing DRT’s performances may be likened to a journey through the rich tapestry of African and African American culture. This is a great opportunity for young professionals seeking to apply their academic skills and gain experience in arts administration. Deeply Rooted Dance Theater’s Youth division is a four week program that provides training in ballet, modern, African-based techniques, and repertory workshops led by Deeply Rooted artistic staff, company members, and guest artists. The program fosters artistic growth through a curriculum that develops technical skill and performance readiness. This program is designed for dancers ages 10 and older.
