Understanding and utilizing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) is crucial for safely handling and storing chemicals in concrete construction. Improper chemical storage is responsible for numerous workplace accidents each year. Under OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard (HAZCOM), employees must be trained on how to read SDS, proper chemical storage, labeling, and emergency response procedures. By following these best practices and ensuring proper training, incidents related to improper storage of chemicals can significantly reduce the risk of chemical accidents and keep our craft workers safe. Michael Schneider received the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) Lifetime Achievement Award at the organization’s annual conference in Kansas City. The Lifetime Achievement Award is ASCC’s highest honor, acknowledging recipients for their body of work within the industry and their service to ASCC. Schneider is only the fourteenth recipient ever of this award. Schneider is a past president of ASCC (2005-06) and currently serves as a director. Schneiders also sits on the Board of the ASCC Education, Research & Development Foundation. Schneider has chaired and served on numerous ASCC committees throughout his tenure. Schneider has spent his accomplished career at Baker Concrete Construction, one of the nation’s leading concrete contractors, starting as a Project Manager in 1978 and culminating his career as their Chief People Officer. #ASCC #decorativeconcretecouncil #concretepolishingcouncil #concreteconstruction
