What if our biggest decisions are shaped by invisible biases? The BIAS Framework is a tool designed to help us understand how our behavior, information-gathering, analysis, and structure influence our choices. In this HBR article, I explore how the BIAS Framework can help us check our expectations, allowing us to think more clearly. This involves: - Challenging our behavioral assumptions, - Gathering relevant information instead of biased data, - Taking a fresh look at our analysis methods, and - Considering how the structure around us impacts our choices. If you’re facing a big choice, try looking through the BIAS lens for more clarity and confidence. #HBR #DecisionMaking #ChallengingExpectations

Handling decisions we don’t agree with can feel like an impossible balancing act. My HBR article introduces a powerful tool called the "Cheetah Sheet" to help us slow down and approach these situations thoughtfully. The Cheetah Sheet guides you through key steps like: - Naming your emotional response to the decision giving space to understand why it feels challenging. - Identifying any assumptions you’re holding that might be influencing your reaction. - Clarifying the alignment between the decision and your values, helping you see where compromises can be made. - Planning a constructive approach to discuss your concerns with management or team members. Slowing down with these steps lets us process emotions and make clearer, more intentional choices. #CheetahPause #DecisionMaking #ProblemSolved #HBR

How important is AI in the work world? Last week’s financial results from both Microsoft and Meta surprised shareholders with their spending on capital expenditures (capex) for AI which increased considerably compared to their historic spending averages. This increase is notable because it reflects a shift from treating AI as just a line item in R&D to viewing it as a central, high-stakes investment that they believe will define their future competitive position. Microsoft has spent 28% of its revenue on capex so far this year, up from a decade average of 12%, and Meta’s projected 2023 capex spending of up to $40 billion represents a similar rise from its 10-year average. These changes indicate that AI is now a cornerstone of these companies’ growth strategies, even if the short-term financial impact is unclear. Their actions suggest that for other organizations to remain competitive, they may also need to invest in AI sooner rather than later. This shift underscores a broader point: companies increasingly view AI as foundational to making smarter, more informed decisions, especially as the technology matures and becomes more central to operations and customer engagement. So what are you doing to level-up your own learning and usage of AI? If you are interested in harnessing the power of GenAI to strengthen your decisions, check out my new LinkedIn course or get in touch directly. #GenAi #DecisionMaking #LinkedInLearning
