Last Friday we joined more than 600 others on a webinar for health technology developers hosted by the European Commission and European HTA group. It was great to hear updates on the implementation of the HTA regulations, with only weeks until they come into force in mid-January.?? Our key take-aways for Health Technology Developers (HTD) were: ?? Letter of intent of JCA submission, although not part of the HTA regulations, was strongly requested to assist with the workload planning of the HTA co-ordinating group? ?? The IT platform is live and the HTA bodies have started to share information in it prior to the first JCA submissions? ?? Confirmation that the number of Joint Scientific Consultations (JSC) will be low in the first year, with only 10 planned? ?? Key guidance documents and annual work plan to be completed by the working groups by the end of November? ? Our key take-aways for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) bodies were: ?? This is a very large change for the HTA bodies themselves?? ?? Without additional resources, they are going to need to implement an effective change management programme and capacity planning for their personnel? ? Overall, the webinar reinforced our belief that preparation is going to be key to success.?? ?? Early prediction of PICOs to enable these to be answered or robust justification provided for why it infeasible to provide evidence? ?? The timelines for JCA dossier submission are very tight, even if additional time is provided to answer questions, the completion and publication of the dossier still needs to meet regulated timelines? ?
