The VC model was not built for women. Not only do we receive less than 3% of all VC dollars, but women rarely start businesses with the sole intention to sell them and become active investors. Rarely does a woman tell us that she wants to "get rich" in order to spend her life investing. Many women don't realize that when they sell their businesses that they are usually barred from the industry they find purpose in, for years. We just aren't built the same as men, so why are we killing ourselves to fit into a model that is not aligned with out goals? Almost always, we hear that women build companies because they want to create income for life, work inside of their purpose, help others, and build places that can support and hire their loved ones (ie. generational businesses for kids, godchildren, family and friends). With that being said, diluting your equity before a series B is not smart, but is how the VC model works. Decision Society has created a model allows women to use equity to grow, but buy it back if partners are not made in the process. It allows women to help each other, without being asked to work for free. We are switching up the way inclusion works. We are aligning women with opportunity, on a trade of time for equity model, that lets founders buy equity back because profit models and systems have been created in this process.
