Dense, Bulk and Homogeneous Cargo Screening – Muon Tomography - Decision Sciences Discovery?
In a previous post I had talked about the unique penetration capabilities of Muon Tomography and its usefulness in NII systems. Muons, (Charged particles) are up to 1000 times more energetic than legacy X-ray.?Muons can fully penetrate steel, water, organic and inorganic materials. See Fig 1. Ultimate Penetration is of course a critical feature for accurate scanning and a key shortcoming of X-ray systems we see in use today.
?
If you are required or want to screen dense and homogeneous cargoes such as bulk commodities or liquid tankers then there is only one effective NII technology to do it, Muon Tomography. With an on-target Scan time of ≈ 3min for the Discovery? system you can detect anomalies with a probability of detection far exceeding High Energy X-Ray systems.
?
High-energy X-rays are limited and very challenged by these dense materials and cargo due to limited penetration and radiation protection requirements when in use. Muon Tomography (Muography) just doesn’t not have this limitation.
?
Why don’t we give Customs Officers/Inspectors, officials and law enforcement access to the tools they need to comprehensively inspect the complete range of cargoes in the stream of commerce; give them access to a Discovery? system.
?
Decision sciences harness the power of Muon Tomography in its Discovery? system, it provides a unique and revolutionary 3D non-intrusive inspection (NII) technology based on “charged particle” physics, Muography. The Discovery? system with its Passive mode of operation, totally SAFE operational mode with NO harmful radiation, NO requirement for radiation shielding protection or the bureaucracy of registration, approval, monitoring from national regulatory bodies provides a SAFE inspection technology that is highly effective with unrivalled penetration capabilities facilitating the detection and inspection screening requirements of Ports and Borders.
