Three years ago, I rode with Cycle for Survival by myself. Today, I am riding with a team of 22 and together, we’ve raised $9,573 (and counting!) to support rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This is ride 3 of 3 for me this season, and I couldn’t be more proud to close it out in my hometown, riding in honor of my dad, Arnold Nacar, and for everyone impacted by rare cancer. To my teammates—colleagues, friends, and family—thank you. Your energy, generosity, and support mean more than I can say. I’m so proud to ride alongside you. At this year’s Molecular & Precision Medicine Tri-Con, the conversation centered around what's next for precision medicine—across diagnostics, therapeutics, and beyond. Our team members Rebecca Burnham, PhD, David Cavanaugh, Luka Jelcic, and Andrew Aijian contributed to panels and discussions on-site spanning AI-driven drug development, regulatory uncertainty, and the expansion of precision approaches outside of oncology. I wanted to share some results of an analysis that I have been doing that shows one aspect of AI in drug R&D activity - AI-first x biopharma partnership deals. The number of partnerships that biopharma does with AI-first companies shows strong growth, with the number of deals growing 27% p.a. over the last 5 years. It is interesting to see the COVID-19 spike in deals as well as the come-down and then ChatGPT driven resurgence in 2023 onward. ?
