This event highlighted the work being done in Dearborn to combat climate issues, which includes partnering with FOTR to install rain gardens which reduce stormwater runoff. The City of Dearborn has launched a text-based air quality alert system funded by MiNextCities. The program aims to educate residents, influence city planning decisions, and supports community advocacy for cleaner air. JustAir a Detroit-based company, has installed air and pollution monitors throughout Dearborn to measure particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide pollution. These monitors are concentrated in the city's south and east ends, areas heavily affected by industrial air pollution. The Dearborn Public Health, led by Ali Abazeed and Samir Deshpande, MPP, focuses on #PublicHealth and #EnvironmentalJustice. Their efforts are aimed at communities most affected by environmental hazards.
