You Don’t Need a "Women’s Day Discount" to Prove Your Worth! After 28 years in the IT industry, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the sharpest, smartest, and most hardworking female colleagues. And let me tell you—none of them needed a "Women's Day Special Offer" to prove their competence. In an industry where deadlines chase you like Gabbar Singh chasing Thakur, and clients expect miracles faster than Jadoo in Koi Mil Gaya, women in IT have consistently delivered without making a fuss. So, on this Women's Day, here’s some advice (sprinkled with sarcasm, ??): Stop Saying "Sorry" for No Reason Your laptop crashes? “Sorry.” The internet is slow? “Sorry.” Your boss forgot his own deadline? “Sorry.” Arre bhai, galti kiski hai? Stop apologizing for things you didn’t do—unless you actually sent the wrong code to production server (then, well… good luck! ??). Don’t Be the "Background Heroine" of Your Own Career Bollywood is full of female characters who exist only to support the hero. Don’t do this at work. Take credit for your work, speak up in meetings, and make sure your ideas don’t get "forwarded" to management by someone else Say "No" Like a Boss You don’t have to agree to every extra task, every weekend shift, and every “Can you just quickly help with this?” moment. This isn’t Kabir Singh—you don’t need to prove your dedication by working yourself to exhaustion. Your Work Is More Important Than festival celebrations in office Yes, it’s great to plan festival celebrations, lunches or Rangolis in office but don’t let people assume that’s your main role. The next time someone asks you to “just handle” the event, tell them you’re busy handling server issues, client calls, or leading a project. (Dosti ka farz is fine, but don’t let it become job ka farz.) You Don’t Need to "Prove" You Belong in Tech If anyone (read: Khans and Kapoors of industry) still thinks women don’t belong in IT, just remind them that Kalpana Chawla went to space while they’re still figuring out how to share a Google Drive link. Enough said. So, to all the amazing women in IT—keep breaking stereotypes, keep coding, keep leading, and most importantly, keep ignoring irrelevant opinions. And for the men reading this—respect your female colleagues every day, not just on March 8th. No "Happy Women’s Day" message can compensate for credit theft, mansplaining, or “I’ll explain this in simple terms for you” nonsense. ??
