?? Recruiting Adult Mentors for DAY Chapter Affiliates!??? Our Chapters Program, consisting of 90+ chapters in 24 U.S. states and 12 countries, is transitioning to an affiliate structure over the next several years, in which states within the US and countries outside of the US function as affiliates of Dear Asian Youth. Each affiliate would have an Executive Board, including an Executive Director, and all existing chapters within an affiliate would still function as local chapters, reporting directly to the affiliate instead of the DAY Core Team. Through this new structure, we look to facilitate larger-scale projects across our chapters program and expand our non-profit designation internationally! Toward establishing our first affiliates in mid-2025, we are looking for Adult Mentors who would be in charge of overseeing affiliates long-term. We are looking for people with the following: Ability to commit for at least 2 years Previous and/or current non-profit, social justice, advocacy, or legislative experience Lives in Texas, Michigan, New Jersey, or California (Primary Affiliate Locations) Commitment to helping Asian leaders grow and mentoring high school/college-aged students as they acclimate to their executive board roles/responsibilities If you are someone or know someone who has these qualities and would be interested in learning more about an adult mentor position, please reach out to Co-Heads of Chapters Rohan Lokanadham and Jaanvi Muchanthla at [email protected] by November 20th! Through a virtual coffee chat, we would love to learn more about your background and share more on the affiliate structure and adult mentor position.? Feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions. Please share this within your networks and we look forward to hearing from you!?
关于我们
Dear Asian Youth is a youth-led, global organization that promotes intersectional activism, solidarity with other marginalized communities, and equality and equity. Through our digital platform, grassroots organizing, and community-based advocacy, we strive to showcase diversity in the Asian community as well as accurate and holistic representation. Dear Asian Youth was founded in May of 2020 by Stephanie Hu, a 16-year-old who wished to create a platform to publish her poetry. It evolved into a blog dedicated to the Asian narrative, then a literary magazine, then a full-fledged organization with over 200 members on the core team. Today, Dear Asian Youth has garnered 110k+ Instagram followers, produced 4 podcast seasons, published 400+ pieces of literature, established 180+ chapters across 18 countries, donated $30,000, and hosted 2 conferences and 30+ webinars. Functioning remotely, the organization today is the product of 300+ passionate volunteers with a shared purpose.

Excited to share another incredible project executed by our DAY @ H.H. Dow High School Chapter in Midland, MI, USA. Students involved in the chapter as well as their Dow High's Student Diversity Board met with teachers from all across?the district to learn, grow, and collaborate on making their classrooms more equitable and inclusive. This student-led initiative was the first-ever event of its kind in the district! They discussed stereotypes, how to have productive conversations with conflicting views, creating effective support systems, as well as building uplifting and inclusive communities. The teachers were able to enjoy delicious food provided through funding from DAY and left with resources, tools, and a renewed enthusiasm for inclusivity. We are very proud of the hard work put in by our Dow High Chapter members and are also grateful to the teachers who took the time out of their summer to hear these students out. Also, another thank you to those on the Chapter Committee who helped support this chapter to execute such a well-thought project.

We are so incredibly proud of our DAY @ Westchester, NY chapter for their work packaging hygiene kits for families and people living in poverty in their community. Using funding from DAY, they were able to package 144 hygiene kits including full-sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, and a toothbrush, and are working with 914Cares, a local Westchester organization, for distribution of these kits. We wanted to shout out Chloe Lee, our amazing Westchester Chapter Lead, as well as the entire Westchester team and volunteers who worked extremely hard to make this happen. We are also grateful to the work of those on the Chapter Committee who continue to work hard to support the DAY Chapters Program so that our chapters can impact their communities.
