Recently, Dean Builds, Inc. and DV8 Kitchen celebrated a little trick or treat with some Trunk or Treat at the Deanbuilds’ office! A combination of DV8 and Deanbuilds employees, family, and friends celebrated Halloween! We had Patrick Mahomes, T. Swift, Elmo’s, Fairy’s, Crayons, Screamers, Jessie’s, Chucky’s, and Clown’s! Our thanks to all of the family, friends, and staff who celebrated Trunk or Treat for Halloween 2024!

Topping Out Ceremony: A topping out ceremony is a construction tradition that marks the completion of a building's structural phase by placing the final beam in place. Like many traditions and holidays we celebrate, the construction topping out ceremony has been passed down from early pagan traditions. One version credits Viking chieftains with erecting houses called mead halls, which were topped by an evergreen to celebrate completion. Other stories estimate that as early as 700 A.D. Scandinavians were topping out their structure with a fir tree to signal those nearby that it was time for the celebration to start. Still other tales attribute construction topping out to American Indians who believed that no structure should be taller than a tree, so Native American Indian construction workers topped any tall building with an evergreen to appease the forest spirits. A couple of weeks ago, Dean Builds, Inc. and Keeneland Association celebrated the “Topping Out Ceremony” for the new Keeneland Paddock Chalet by setting the final beam in place. Over the previous week, the Keeneland and Deanbuilds' teams took the opportunity to sign the beam for posterity. In addition to the beam, our teams also placed an American Flag and a evergreen tree on the final beam. Deanbuilds has been honored to partner with the team at Keeneland to construct their new Operations Building and Paddock Chalet and continue to work tirelessly on behalf of the project.
