Virtual Music Bar Est. Dec 27 2007. We're a collection of musicians, writers, DJs, tastemakers, venue owners, promoters, record industry people, and serious hard-core music fans. Drop in at our virtual bar, pull up a chair and chat with your pals. Write a post about music that's important to you. Discover music you haven't heard before. Share with us what you like and turn us on to music we haven't heard before. Find about happenings in music (check our events calendar). Have philosophical discussions. Post your upcoming events! We're wide open. Let's keep this place positive and fun, although it's certainly ok if you want to "Pshaw!" a comment you don't agree with! The bar is inspired by the late-night radio show Deaconlight on WFDD-FM, then known as "The Radio Voice of Wake Forest University" (hence the black & gold in Deaconlight's logo). The show began as Deaconlight Serenade in 1946. "Serenade" was dropped in the early 70s because we were rocking, not serenading! Sadly, Deaconlight was taken off the air at age 35. The last Vintage Deaconlight was Dec 27 1981. (But it moved to WKZL in 1982 and became the New Generation Show, but that's another story.) In 2007, Deaconlight was revived on ErrorFM - at the time the longest-running internet radio station. Deaconlight 21C was live for 2-3 hours world wide at Noon ET/5pm GMT Mon-Fri. Sadly, DD lost her mojo in May 2013 and let the show go to reruns. ErrorFM shut down in Dec 2013. But Deaconlight still lives here at the bar!
