We're slightly obsessed with glass blocks at the moment. There's something so effortlessly cool about their look – classic, industrial, but still refined and fresh. They're the perfect blend of functional and aesthetic, use them as a room divider, accent wall, or on an exterior wall to get natural light and privacy all in one package. We've imagined some spaces that use glass block in different ways, and our favorite highlights from each: 1. The architectural glass block wall paired with the interior partition, warm toned wood, and low slung furniture, sculptural chair and striking abstract painting 2. The glass block accent wall adjacent to a skylight creates a waterfall look that is sure to shift with the natural light throughout the day, creating a dynamic and interesting space. The warm-toned drapery beyond adds warmth and helps with acoustics. 3. Inspired by the Villa Necchi Campiglio, the glass block here creates a band across the top, like a clerestory window, and breaks up the glass facade in interesting ways. The warm tones of the wood framed glass, with amber and copper accents and verdant floor and furniture is just too good. 4. That sliver of skylight along the library wall is . The waffle ceiling carries the grid of the glass block from the vertical surface to the horizontal, and helps with acoustics of this open plan. The sectional creates a conversation pit feel perfect for entertaining. 5. With the low furniture and tables, this space feels like a contemporary version of a traditional Japanese home. The central glass block acts as a Shoji screen, partitions the open plan and catches the light from the skylight in interesting ways. 6. Glass block, but in 3 ways - a partition, a skylight, and exterior wall create shifting planes and add interest in an otherwise simple and minimal space.
