Congrats to Ayesha M. Hudson, owner of A-Peace, on cutting the green ribbon on 9 new sustainable, affordable homes in Ward 8! Yesterday, we celebrated Ayesha's hard work and this new addition to the community along with DC Department of Housing and Community Development, Amazon, Capital Impact Partners, DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), community members, and Ayesha's family and friends, who all made this project possible. ? With a $3 million investment from DC Green Bank, Ayesha made her vision of green, resident-centered development for her community a reality. This all-electric building also features rooftop solar and energy-efficient appliances that will cut carbon emissions and utility costs. ? This project shows the potential of ambitious community leaders collaborating with DC Green Bank to bring their projects to life. We are proud to work with entrepreneurs like Ayesha who want to bring the benefits of the clean economy to their communities. We're hiring a Director of Solar Investments to lead the strategic direction, daily management, and oversight of DC Green Bank's role in the District’s federally funded Solar for All lending program. This position will also lead the overall development of a pipeline of solar transactions to meet annual origination and impact targets. Our team was busy at #ClimateWeekNYC advancing the green bank movement, building new partnerships, and sharing our mission of advancing clean energy and an inclusive economy. A few highlights: ? ?? DC Green Bank CEO Trisha Miller spoke at a Green Bank Network and Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) event, along with DCGB board member Ricardo (Rick) Nogueira, on how green banks can catalyze the shift to clean energy and how to ensure our investments put historically underserved communities at the forefront of the transition. ? ? Our CIO Sri Sekar joined a panel on Financing the Green Transition hosted by Deloitte. ? ?? We celebrated the launch of the U.S. Green Bank 50, a new hub for green banks to work and learn together to accelerate clean energy and climate investment in American communities. ? We also joined conversations at events with Rewiring America, Invest in Our Future, The Rockefeller Foundation, Elemental Impact, Earthshot Ventures, and Generate on how we can work together to build more sustainable, resilient, and equitable communities.

Clean energy also means clean air! As part of #CleanEnergyWeek we visited the Children's National Hospital Research & Innovation Campus to talk about how building the clean economy can benefit families by improving indoor air quality and lowering utility bills. ? Through Solar for All, DC Green Bank is helping to cut low- and moderate-income DC residents' utility bills by as much as half by building community solar projects with our partners at the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE), DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), Flywheel Development LLC, and New Columbia Solar. Thanks to the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, we will soon be investing millions more in Solar for All with our District partners. ? DOEE is also working with National Housing Trust and Children's Law Center to improve indoor quality through green retrofits to affordable housing that replace gas appliances - helping to keep kids with asthma healthy and out of the emergency room.
