关于我们
The mission of the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV) is to promote the safe operation of motor vehicles and public safety while providing outstanding customer service. The vision of DC DMV is to be the leader in innovation and technology. Every day, DC DMV directly serves an average of 3,200 District residents—and non-residents—more than almost any other District government agency. DC DMV provides service to more than 623,000 licensed drivers or identification card holders and 310,000 registered vehicles at four service centers. We service more than 2.7 million tickets annually, by collecting payments or providing citizens the means to contest the tickets. We also conduct over 178,000 vehicle inspections each year. To achieve our mission, we have three operational program areas: Ticket Services, Driver Services, and Vehicle Services. NOTE: DC DMV does NOT issue tickets. Parking, photo enforcement, and minor moving violation tickets are issued by the Department of Public Works, the DC Department of Transportation, and law enforcement agencies including the Metropolitan Police Department, US Capitol Police, US Park Police, and more than 30 other agencies.

On Monday February 10, DMV Director Gabriel Robinson testified before DC Council's Committee on Transportation and the Environment, led by Council Member Charles Allen, for DMV's annual Performance Oversight Hearing. Director Robinson highlighted the agency's accomplishments over the past fiscal year, which include DMV's participation in the State-2-State driver verification program, our opening of the emissions test kiosk in Ward 8's Fort Stanton neighborhood, a robust outreach campaign for the Ignition Interlock Device (IID) Program, and the release of a new, fraud-proof temporary vehicle tag. Director Robinson also shared vision and direction for the exciting projects DMV has in tow for fiscal year 2025. Visit our YouTube channel to watch the full testimony here - https://bit.ly/4gJEKc1

Yesterday, members of #TeamDMV presented in the annual Washington, D.C. Auto Show. We participated in the 2025 Tag and Title Seminar, which focused on proper document processing, inter-jurisdictional coordination and administrative efforts. Over 80 tag & title processors from Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association (WANADA) dealerships and NIVTA: National Independent Vehicle Title Agents Organization were in attendance. Thanks to Beth Caro for organizing this seminar and to all who joined us!

Black History Month is a time to honor the history, achievements, and contributions of African Americans to society. Established by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926 it has grown into a month-long celebration of resilience, culture, and progress, observed every February. This month encourages us to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and inspire a more equitable future.

January is #HumanTraffickingAwarenessMonth, and tomorrow is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day! Did you know that all individuals who apply for a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) in DC must complete a mandatory Human Trafficking Awareness Training before being issued a new CDL or converting an out-of-state CDL? As truck drivers are on the road and visiting rest stops more frequently than the average person, they are critical eyes and ears for spotting unusual activity. The training is educational and equips drivers with signs of what to look for when traveling for work. DC CDL holders who have successfully completed the training join the ranks of over one million drivers nationwide who are educated on human trafficking awareness and committed to saving countless lives through this important work. We are proud to partner with Truckers Against Trafficking and the US Department of Homeland Security Blue Campaign to help bring an end to human trafficking.
