The Delta Conveyance Project is a critical climate adaptation project which will enable State Water Project supplies to be maintained despite the impacts of climate change. Acting now to implement the project will save money down the road. A recent benefit-cost analysis for the Delta Conveyance Project found that for every $1 spent on the project, $2.20 in benefits would be generated. This year, despite California's wet winter, fishery-related regulations severely limited water exports from the south Delta. If the Delta Conveyance Project had been operational, it could have moved an additional 909,000 acre-feet of water from the north Delta, where it is safer for fish. This project is essential for addressing such conflicts and improving overall water supply.

The Delta Conveyance Project will create a dual conveyance system, which allows for more flexible management of our state’s water supply. This flexibility will help California adapt to extreme weather and will improve overall water supply in the state. ?

The Delta Conveyance Project would include a 45-mile main tunnel to convey water from the north Delta to the Bethany Reservoir, the beginning of the State Water Project's California Aqueduct. The State Water Project provides water to 27 million Californians and 750,000 acres of farmland. The Delta Conveyance Project is part of an essential climate adaptation strategy that will ensure that water supply for future generations.
