It’s been a season of extremes so far in California, with extended dry periods broken up by extreme rain storms. DWR is investing in California’s water future with projects that will maximize the benefits of rainfall when it comes in shorter, more intense bursts. If the Delta Conveyance Project was operational, it could have moved an additional 700,000 acre-feet to storage so far this winter. That would have translated to approximately a 15 to 20% increase in the current State Water Project allocation, on top of the increase announced today.
