The Continuum is introducing a new collection program this year, "Warm Hugs, Warm Hearts," which coincides with the Snack Bags of Joy Program. Not only do many local DuBois School District Students need food to enjoy over their Christmas break, but they also need winter hats and gloves. We are collecting 300 hats and 300 gloves to go in the Snack Bags of Joy, along with the food items. They are speculating a long, cold winter, so let's work together to ensure these kids are warm. Our community's foundation was formed in the late 1970s when the DuBois Nursing Home opened its doors as a not-for-profit organization chartered to meet the region's need for long-term care. In 1996, the nursing home's board of directors created DuBois Village—a personal care community—as an independent organization located on the same 13-acre campus. In 2000 and 2001, the nursing home added Memory Lane, a secure Alzheimer's/Dementia area, and Village View independent living apartments, respectively. To better serve residents' individual needs, the two entities—DuBois Nursing Home and DuBois Village—merged in 2003 and established the DuBois Continuum of Care Community, Inc. With this seamless continuum of services, residents can tailor their lifestyle as needed without having to move to another community for extended care. DuBois Home Care Services became a sister division to the Continuum. DuBois Home Care offers an environment of security and independence for seniors by providing options for supportive care and client-centered services in the comfort and safety of their own home. DuBois Home Care can help you maintain maximum independence at home by assisting with daily living tasks. Throughout the years we have maintained a reputation for comfortable living and health care services. As a not-for-profit organization, we will promote an enriched community life with an emphasis on individualism and choice in care and services. The Continuum is hosting its 6th Annual Snack Bags of Joy Collection Program to benefit the local DuBois School District Students. Unfortunately, the needs of our school students continue to grow, so we increased this year's number to 300 Snack Bags. Please consider making a monetary donation to this significant program. We are asking for financial contributions, not products, because we have streamlined the items needed. Items will be equally distributed among the bags, and we must be sensitive to possible food allergy concerns. Thank you.
