BIDs positively impact in their communities. Capitol Hill BID President Patty Brosmer founded Ready Willing and Working (RWW), a non-profit organization that empowers individuals to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency and criminal recidivism through a paid-work rehabilitation program. Since 2008, the program has provided important supportive services to a number of BID Clean Team Ambassadors. RWW's Children's Day is one example: https://lnkd.in/dG9DgK8m

Congratulations to the Adams Morgan Partnership BID on 20 years of enhancing and supporting the Adams Morgan neighborhood!
This week we celebrated our 20th anniversary with a memorable Annual Meeting & Celebration at The LINE Hotel. We were thrilled to bring together local business owners, community leaders, and elected officials to reflect on the incredible impact we've had over the last two decades and to discuss our plans for the continued growth of our neighborhood. During the event, we had the honor of recognizing two exceptional individuals for their outstanding contributions to Adams Morgan: ?? Kimberly Vacca, from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) was presented with the AMPBID Community Impact Award for her leadership in the Adams Morgan Streatery Pilot Project, which reimagined public spaces and created expanded outdoor dining areas, bringing increased foot traffic and supporting local businesses. ?? Josh Gibson received the AMPBID Community Impact Award for his pivotal role in establishing the Business Improvement District in 2005. His work laid the foundation for the BID’s success, ensuring Adams Morgan remains a vibrant, dynamic neighborhood. The day also featured remarks from Ward 1 Councilmember Brianne Nadeau, discussions on our 2024 accomplishments, and strategic plans for the years ahead. We also welcomed five new board members, further strengthening our leadership. Here's to continued success and growth in Adams Morgan! ?? #AdamsMorgan #CommunityLeadership #BID20thAnniversary #UrbanPlacemaking #WashingtonDC #BusinessDevelopment

Great discussion with Jeffrey Tenenbaum last night about how BID foundations can continue to support D.C. neighborhoods through public art, placemaking, social services, etc.
Definitely one my most unusual settings for a speaking presentation on the legalities of related foundations of membership associations (in this case, DC Business Improvement Districts, for the DC BID Council), but a fun one for sure! Especially with Jake behind the bar for the last time at my neighborhood Bar Chinois! Thanks to our “Mayor” Kenyattah Robinson for organizing!

The DC BID Council is thrilled to welcome Deborah Kerson Bilek as Georgetown Business Improvement District's new CEO. Welcome, Deb! We are excited to work with you!
We're excited to announce that Deborah Kerson Bilek is the Georgetown BID's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO)! Bilek is an executive leader with over 20 years of experience in policy, planning, and public and nonprofit management in the Metropolitan Washington Region. She most recently served as the Executive Director of ULI Washington, a member organization with a mission to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact. “We believe Deb’s mix of public and private experience and strong strategic visioning will prove invaluable as she leads the Georgetown BID in its next chapter,” said Terese Wilson, Chair of the Georgetown BID Board of Directors. “She is a consensus builder, and we have no doubt she will bring BID members, the community, and city partners together to further initiatives that will benefit Georgetown.” In her role at ULI, Bilek viewed herself as the “Chief Relationship Officer” for the organization’s 2,100 members who span a diverse network of private and public professionals in the real estate and land use industry. Bilek worked at ULI for over a decade in progressively senior roles, including as ULI’s Vice President, Advisory Services, where she supervised and managed the operations of the global Advisory Services Program through COVID. As CEO of the BID, Bilek will be responsible for shaping Georgetown’s future as Washington’s premier mixed-use neighborhood, advancing initiatives across retail, office, hospitality, entertainment, and residential sectors. She will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the guidance and management of the BID’s staff in administration and financial reporting as well as directing the day-to-day activities of the BID. “I am passionate about building community, and I enjoy working across sectors and with multiple stakeholders to achieve a common purpose,” said Bilek. “I am also a firm believer in the power that BIDs can have as drivers of economic vitality and growth—both for the neighborhoods they serve and for the larger cities in which they are located. Georgetown is an amazing and unparalleled neighborhood—its location, history, character, and corridors draw local, national, and international visitors every day. I am so excited about the opportunity to serve the community as the BID's CEO and look forward to getting started!” Bilek will officially begin as CEO of the Georgetown BID in mid-April. You can learn more about her background in the press release below. We look forward to welcoming her aboard!

Washington, DC's twelve Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) cultivate public-private partnerships to tackle complicated issues that touch every aspect of city life. BID teams work daily to grow the economy, activate parks and public space, tackle chronic homelessness, improve transportation networks, and enhance the overall quality of the public realm in a hyper-local way that is unique to each neighborhood. All of these activities have helped to foster a stronger and more resilient city since the first DC BID was formed in 1997. https://lnkd.in/empp7EPC
