Commissioner Rhoshunda Kelly recently participated in a panel discussion titled, "Lessons Learned from a Career in Banking," at the Women in Banking Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Banking executives and regulators covered a range of topics on economic and banking conditions, while also sharing insights from their respective roles and accomplishments through their banking careers. This event provided a platform for women leaders to exchange insights on various aspects of banking such as recruitment, retention, mentoring, and advancing talent in the banking industry. DBCF staff recently attended the National Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) Conference and Training in Atlanta, Georgia, which provided networking for regulators as well as industry partners. This annual event offered various sessions such as discussions regarding NMLS Modernization, State Examination System (SES) training, and Money Transmission Modernization Act (MTMA) updates. This year's event was filled with engaging discussions, valuable insights, and networking opportunities. Commissioner Rhoshunda Kelly provided an overview of bank supervision as well as legislative issues that affect the agency overall. Kelly also discussed the regulatory outlook with the new administration. Attorney Philip Smith discussed the future and relevance of community banks, including a focus on stakeholder value and shareholders in our communities. Our regulator roundtable offered valuable insight into key issues impacting both our economy as well as the banking sector, while Acuity Forensics CEO and Founder Tiffany Couch, CPA, CFF, CFE, shared insights on industry insider fraud and strategies to protect banks from fraudulent activities. Dave Martin of bankmechanics delivered a compelling presentation on the critical role of how human elements impact business success while Etay Maor demonstrated the reality and risk of artificial intelligence (AI) to businesses and how to look for classic fraud techniques. Commissioner Rhoshunda Kelly was recently named Mississippi Person of the Year by the Mule Train Historical Society at their Martin Luther King Day Prayer Breakfast in Marks, Mississippi. In addition to this recognition, Kelly was also the event's keynote speaker. Her message centered around the theme, "Rising Above Circumstances via Money and Banking," and focused on her personal journey, career with the Department, and Mississippi's banking system. Thank you to Dr. Hilliard Lackey,III, President of the Mule Train Historical Society. The Commissioner appreciates the recognition and the opportunity to participate in this annual reflection on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

DBCF recently hosted Mandi Stanley, Mississippi's first Certified Speaking Professional, for an Executive Presence workshop. Ms. Stanley's presentation showcased timely and relevant professional skills that encompass many facets of business etiquette, including email, voicemail, and interpersonal communications. Ms. Stanley focused on words that work and moves that matter in the professional realm. We appreciate Ms. Stanley taking time to enhance our business skillset. #dbcf
