How can healthcare providers can make therapeutic home environments a reality? This is a great question we’ve seen come up a few times in conversations and comments since we posted our latest research. Education really is the first most practical step. Healthcare providers need to understand the science connecting nature-inspired design to better health outcomes, because this evidence fundamentally changes how we approach treatment and prevention of chronic conditions. When clinicians understand that biophilic elements can directly modulate the autonomic nervous system, reduce inflammation, and promote neuroplasticity, they can integrate these as active therapeutic interventions. Dayhouse's journey in this field started with our "Healthy Dwelling" article in 2022, showing how thoughtfully designed spaces could help people with migraines, chronic pain, and depression. Our latest research takes this further, demonstrating how our homes can become active healing environments - not just places where we live. You can find both peer-reviewed articles on our research page ?? https://lnkd.in/gk_urZmp Just as doctors ask about diet, sleep and exercise, they could start asking about a patient’s home environment - natural light exposure, air quality, relaxation spaces - treating our living spaces as an important part of our health picture. The home is where we spend most of our time, making it possibly the most powerful yet overlooked tool in our healthcare approach. #BiophilicDesign #TherapeuticEnvironments #HealthcareInnovation #ChronicDiseaseManagement

How many hours did you spend at home this week? Unlike occasional wellness and fitness activities, our homes affect us constantly. The science is sound but overlooked: our physical environments shape our biology and behavior. The autonomic nervous system, neuroplasticity, immune response - all influenced by our surroundings. Yet while we meticulously track steps and macros, we neglect the spaces where we live 70% of our lives. This blind spot is particularly striking as healthcare shifts toward home-based care models. We've created elaborate systems to deliver pharmaceutical and digital treatments yet pay little attention to whether the environment itself promotes healing or harm. Imagine healthcare providers recommending specific home design modifications for disease management the way they prescribe physical or behavioral therapies. Or insurance covering home adaptations that offer clinical benefits for chronic conditions. Or therapeutic home environments designed specifically to reduce stress and improve therapy outcomes. The healthcare conversation is expanding beyond nutrition, sleep, and exercise to include the persistent influence of our living spaces. The home is the next therapeutic frontier. What one change could make your living space more restorative today? #BiophilicDesign #InteriorDesign #HomeDesign #DesignForHealth #RestorativeEnvironment #TherapeuticHomeEnvironment #BuiltEnvironment #EnrichedEnvironment #HealingSpaces #HealthcareInnovation #HealthCare #HealthyDwelling #HealthyHome #HealthyBuildings

How many steps have I done today? ?? It’s become a common phrase in our vocabulary, hasn’t it? People are becoming increasingly familiar with digital health technologies - whether they’re tracking their vital signs with an Apple Watch, FitBit, Garmin Venu, Oura Ring, or Samsung Galaxy Watch, or using mobile apps like Calm and Headspace to support their mental well-being. However, fewer people are aware of FDA-approved (aka FDA-authorized) digital health technologies intended to treat specific medical conditions. Our latest peer-reviewed article explores how biophilic design - an “active non-pharmacological ingredient” can be delivered through a digital health platform. We present a patent-pending software ecosystem that integrates biophilic design, health education, self-care and e-commerce to deliver personalized treatments for people living with chronic diseases, such as depression, anxiety, migraine, chronic pain, or cancer. Read our latest LinkedIn article "Can We Have 'FDA-approved' Biophilic Design?" to discover how the future of healthcare might blend digital platforms with nature-inspired design to create therapeutic home environments: https://lnkd.in/ghUygtdK #BiophilicDesign #DigitalHealth #eCommerce #SelfCare #InteriorDesign #HomeDesign #DesignForHealth #TherapeuticHomeEnvironment #HealthCare #HealthcareInnovation #HealthEducation #Wellbeing #HealthyDwelling

When was the last time a space made you feel instantly calmer? Have you ever wondered what's actually happening in your brain and body during that experience? Our latest peer-reviewed research demonstrates how thoughtfully designed spaces can trigger cascading physiological responses through multiple sensory pathways: ?? Visual stimuli: Natural light patterns and biomorphic elements modulate circadian rhythms and autonomic nervous system function ? Tactile engagement: Contact with natural materials like wood shows measurable effects on prefrontal cortex activity and stress reduction ?? Acoustic elements: Specific soundscapes can enhance parasympathetic activation, improving recovery and emotional regulation ?? Environmental enrichment: The combination of these elements can promote neuroplasticity and neurogenesis Most compelling is how these sensory inputs can work synergistically and create improvements in:? ? Stress response? ? Pain perception? ? Sleep quality? ? Emotional regulation ? Cardiovascular health This research reveals how our physical surroundings can work hand-in-hand with conventional medical treatments, opening new possibilities for even more effective care. You can read more about these findings in our research here: https://lnkd.in/g_f4JWzG Interested in exploring how therapeutic environments could impact patient outcomes? Can We Have "FDA-approved Biophilic Design"? The answer is more complex - and more exciting - than you might think. Our new research in IJERPH MDPI points to an innovative pathway: transforming a household goods e-commerce platform into an FDA-regulated digital health intervention. Here's a preview of what makes this groundbreaking:? ? E-commerce platforms (SaaS) can be clinically validated to become "software as a medical device" (SaMD) products? ? Digital health technologies can deliver personalized therapeutic environments AND health education? ? Integration with pharmaceutical treatments becomes possible through so called PDURS framework (‘prescription drug use-related software”) Look out for our Friday LinkedIn article for a deeper look at how this could transform healthcare delivery and what it means for the future of integrating biophilic design and therapeutic home environments. The data already shows why this matters:? ? Americans spend over 17 hours daily at home? ? 125M US households could be reached through this approach? ? $4.9T in US healthcare spending needs innovative solutions for disease prevention Explore further in this summary ?? https://lnkd.in/g7JT-k4M #DigitalHealth #SaaS #SaMD #DTx #PDURS #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare #DigitalTherapeutics #ValueBasedCare #Biophilic #ecommerce #DesignForHealth #TherapeuticHomeEnvironment
