Tahirih was thrilled to celebrate UN #WorldInterfaithHarmonyWeek premiering the new docushort Houston Rising about our #TAAFCityPartners work alongside The Asian American Foundation, Daya Houston, and Boat People SOS to increase safety and justice for survivors of gender-based violence and combat anti-Asian hate. We had a powerful fireside chat about what safety, healing, and empowerment mean to survivors. Thank you also to the Houston Baha'i Community for opening their doors to host us for this important conversation. Photos by Quy Tran

This holiday season, give the gift of a safe, welcoming home to survivors and their families. At Daya, we believe a home should be a place to heal, rebuild, and thrive. Small comforts like fresh sheets, kitchen essentials, and a warm bed can transform an empty space into a sanctuary. Help us reach our 28 Days of Giving goal to raise $56,000 for essential housing needs. Your support will directly fund rent, startup costs, and other essentials survivors need to rebuild. Donate today to make a lasting impact by visiting dayahouston.org/28days #28daysofgiving #rebuildingheartsandhomes #survivors

A New Chapter Begins for Daya! We are excited to introduce you to our new Executive Director, Tasneem Rajan! With over 17 years of experience in social services, child welfare, and family violence prevention, Tasneem brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her new role at Daya. Tasneem has a proven track record of leading nonprofit initiatives that empower survivors. As a former Program Director at CHETNA in Dallas/Ft. Worth, she successfully implemented strategic programs to support South Asian survivors of intimate partner violence, while also overseeing fundraising, community outreach, and public relations efforts. Her leadership at the North Texas Food Bank helped grow their Partner Grant Program from awarding $32,000 in 2020 to an astounding $6.3 million in 2023. Tasneem’s expertise spans financial oversight, event management, and building key partnerships to support long-term solutions for survivors. She is committed to fostering sustainable change through education and prevention, making her the ideal leader to guide Daya into a new chapter of growth and impact. When she’s not working, Tasneem enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and spending quality time with family and friends. Please join us in welcoming Tasneem Rajan to the Daya family! We look forward to the incredible contributions she will bring to our mission of serving and empowering domestic and sexual abuse survivors here in Houston!

When disaster strikes, it impacts everyone—but for domestic violence survivors, the danger can be even greater. The chaos and displacement caused by natural disasters like Hurricane?Beryl, can worsen existing abuse and make it harder for survivors to find safety. Survivors face?increased isolation, limited access to resources and disrupted communication. Thank you to Houston Landing for this article for local resources for survivors, and identifying us as one of them.
