Teamwork in action! We’ve been hard at work launching our new database, collaborating to ensure a smooth transition and greater efficiency for everyone. Along the way, our Day One Book has been filling up with words of encouragement, gratitude, and recognition—a simple yet powerful way we uplift and support one another. These reminders keep us grounded in our mission and connected as a team. When we support each other, we create a stronger, more compassionate community for all. Big things are happening, and we’re doing it together! #Teamwork #DayOneRI

What is a Children's Advocacy Center? ?? When law enforcement or child protective services believe a child may be experiencing abuse, the child is brought to the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC). The CAC is a safe, child-friendly environment that is designed to meet the needs of children, families, and investigative partners. What does the CAC do? ?? At the CAC, the child shares their experience once to a trained interviewer who knows how to ask the right questions in a developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed way. A team that includes child protective services, law enforcement, victim advocacy, prosecution, medical providers, mental health, and other professionals makes decisions together about how to help the child based on the interview. This is called the multidisciplinary team (MDT) response and is a core part of the work of CACs. How does an MDT help? ?? The MDT response helps to reduce the stress and trauma for the child and family by limiting the number of times children must retell details of what happened to them and helps them on their path to healing.
