ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR WEEK (ASB) Have you ever heard the saying that the best predictor of future behaviour is?past behaviour? Research shows that male and female offenders with extensive criminal histories that include both general and violent crime are more likely to perpetuate domestic violence in later life. This is why creating awareness of ant-social behaviour is important !!! ASB Awareness Week is a annual national campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour and keep people in our communities safe. It is organised by Resolve, a leading ASB and community safety organisation. The national week of action aims to encourage communities to take a stand against ASB and highlight the actions people can take if they are experiencing it. The week is supported by HM Government, UK Civil Service, all Police and Fire forces in the country, Historic England, and thousands of housing providers, local authorities and community groups. #MakingCommunitiesSafer #ASB #domesticviolence

Did you know that 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime !!! This time next week, the?16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence?kicks off and runs for 2 weeks (25 November - 10th December). The campaign was started by activists at the inauguration of the Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991. It is used as an organising strategy by individuals and organizations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. In support of this civil society initiative, the?United Nations Secretary-General launched in 2008 the campaign UNITE by 2030 to End Violence against Women, which runs parallel to the 16 Days of Activism. Every year, the UNITE Campaign focuses on a specific theme and this year’s is?“UNITE!?Invest to prevent violence against women and girls” The campaign calls on citizens to show how much they care about ending violence against women and girls by sharing the actions they are taking to create?a world free from violence towards women. This year's campaign also calls on governments worldwide to share how they are investing in gender-based violence prevention. HELP SUPPORT US BY PROMOTING IT TOO. COMMIT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND FACE THE CONSEQUENCES !!! A judge has described domestic violence as "a scourge on society" and warned that those who engage in it will be jailed. We recently read about a 25 year old man that was sentenced to 12 months in prison. He will serve six months in custody and the rest on licence. The court was told that police were on patrol when they were flagged down by a member of the public who claimed a man was trying to force his way into a house. Police spoke to the woman, who said she had been in a relationship with the defendant, which had ended. She said she had told him she would leave his belongings outside the door but when she opened the door to do so, he forced his way inside. The woman said that she tried to leave but her ex partner prevented her, closing the door on her arm. She also told police about a number of assaults by the defendant. In one case, he subjected her "to some form of strangulation" and kneed her in the ribs, the court was told. In addition to a 12-month sentence, the judge imposed a restraining order for five years. The Dawah foundation is committed to ending domestic abuse and supports the Government’s ambition to halve violence against women and girls within a decade. We are facing an epidemic of male violence against women and girls. Around 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime and 1 woman is killed by a partner or ex-partner in England and Wales every five days. If the Government is serious about tackling VAWG, we need to see long-term, dedicated funding for services to ensure women and girls can access lifesaving support when they need it.? ??THE AUTUMN BUDGET We were disappointed that the Autumn Budget did not include detail about how much funding has been set aside to tackle violence against women and girls (VAWG) specifically but do welcome the Government’s pledge to halve VAWG within the next decade. It was great to read about the likes of Refuge and another?21 leading VAWG organisations, calling on the Government to provide an annual funding settlement of ￡516m or more per year for refuge and community-based services, and separate ring-fenced funding at a minimum of ￡178m to fund specialist ‘by and for’ organisations to support marginalised survivors who face even more extensive barriers to accessing vital support. ?
