As a young adult, Justin experienced an issue with his blood that led to hospitalization, the need for higher levels of care, and dialysis. As his DaVita care team started working with him and his family, they focused on building trust and creating a strong connection with him. His coordinated care helped him maintain eligibility for kidney transplantation. After months of successful treatment at DaVita, Justin celebrated receiving a kidney transplant in February 2024. Nursing schools historically include minimal focus on nephrology, but we're working to change that. We're focused on securing collaborations with universities so we can increase understanding of how uniquely rewarding the #nephrology specialty can be. In an effort to make nephrology curriculums more accessible, we will continue to invest in academic practice partnerships, offer clinical internships to nursing students, and grow our residency program for newly hired nurse graduates to get the support they need during their first year.
