DSA is thrilled to congratulate our client NeighborWorks Housing Solutions (NHS) for completing the stunning renovation and adaptive reuse of the historic Lincoln School in Brockton. Now named The Lincoln, the project repurposed the 1896 school for 37 efficient, affordable apartments for seniors. DSA’s Kevin Vician, Adam Richter, and Iric Rex, AIA, LEED AP attended the festive ribbon-cutting event, and spent time with some of the team: NeighborWorks Housing Solutions, Curtis Construction, and VHB as well as representatives of the funding agencies and local officials who?all helped to make this wonderful project a reality. ? DSA’s Ross Speer was one of a number of individuals who were happy to share a few words of congratulations during the ribbon cutting ceremony at Carol Ave Apartments in Brighton. Due to the day’s terrible weather, attendees gathered in one of the renovated units for the celebration and the sharing of positive and enthusiastic messages. This extensive renovation project was one of - if not the first - Deep Energy Retrofits (DER) and complete electrification of an existing historic building in the City of Boston.?The Carol Ave Apartments development, estimated to have been built circa 1910, includes 3 buildings and provides 33 rental units, all designated as affordable.?This project with Allston Brighton CDC was supported via a number of different funding sources, including among others the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation (CEDAC), MassDevelopment, and the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC). We recently welcomed Sofia Mendez as a DSA intern. She is a Northeastern University student working toward a BS in Architecture, as well as a Minor in Graphic and Information Design. For five months in 2023, Sofia studied abroad at IE University in Segovia, Spain, where she received the Design Excellence Award. She brings a keen interest in multifamily design, adaptive reuse and sustainability to the firm, and we are pleased to be part of her academic and professional journey. Fun fact about Sofia: she is a former Girls Wakeboarding National and World Champion!

Merrimack Corner is open! DSA teamed with Bethany Community Services, a leading provider of affordable senior housing and supportive services, on this new 48-unit senior residence, and renovation of the existing, adjacent 148-unit Merrivista building. A connecting skybridge allows residents of all 196 apartments to access complementary amenity spaces in both properties that include a health and wellness center, a nursing and medical service area, exercise facilities, classroom spaces, and a generous community center/activity room. The buildings are located in downtown Haverhill with dramatic views of the Merrimack River that are visible from many units and common areas, as well as an outdoor balcony and patio spaces.

DSA is pleased to welcome our newest job captain, Aysegül Mutluay! Aysegül earned her Bachelor of Architecture from Anadolu University in Turkiye and completed her Master of Architecture degree at the Boston Architectural College, with a thesis focused on the renovation and contemporary addition to the historic Charlestown Navy Yard Power House, which received a Thesis Commendation. She later earned a Master of Science in Historic Preservation (Conservation of Cultural Heritage) from Middle East Technical University. Her thesis examined urban planning and the cultural value assessment of At?a, the first modern town established after the founding of the Turkish Republic. With over a decade of experience, she has contributed to projects ranging from archaeological sites to contemporary designs. Her expertise spans retail, mixed-use, and multifamily developments. Aysegül is particularly passionate about historic preservation and adaptive reuse, leveraging her skills to breathe new life into heritage structures. Welcome Aysegül, we are so excited for you to join our team!
